Join our Worship this Sunday with a special guest speaker. To register for access to the Zoom-based service, please click the link below. https://surreyunitarians.ca/wor/access-our-online-worship/ YOU ARE RESILIENT ALREADY... For a very long time, our culture has misinterpreted how the physical and mental self responds to adversity in protective ways. Although many of our responses to difficulty might feel uncomfortable, they are also protective and adaptive. In this short talk, Michelle will redefine resilience, giving us a deeper appreciation and maybe a little more acceptance for how adaptively we function in challenging circumstances. Michelle Waters, MA, CCC, RCC is a trauma counsellor with the trauma counselling team at Sources and also has a private practice in South Surrey. She loves helping clients with long term issues to understand how their responses make sense. She uses counselling tools that work at the neurological level to help clients regain a sense of safety and an ability to move forward in their lives.

Racism is a major social issue. We acknowledge there is systemic racism and targeted violence impacts communities of colour disproportionately. We work to end racial discrimination and injustice, starting within ourselves and moving out into the world around us. Slavery was abolished here decades before Canada officially became a country. But a Black historian feels an apology is in order from the prime minister. Elise Harding-Davis wrote to Justin Trudeau about it last week, but it's not a new campaign. She has written to him several times before. Now, she's working to get support from elected officials in Windsor-Essex.

Looking for some action you can do at home to support Indigenous peoples? Take action! Send a letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and tell him it’s time to end drinking water advisories in First Nations.

Here's a reflection on awe by one of our Soul Matters members, Smitty. It's awe-inspiring!

"The history and legacy of Unitarian Universalism are shaped as much by Emerson, Fahs, and Channing as it is by the ancestors in our congregations. We come to it through different avenues: the Internet, an invitation, reading the Transcendentalists, or as babies or little kids." Elandria Williams

All In for Climate Justice: People, Power, Planet Join us on Zoom at 1:30 this Sunday as we engage in the Unitarian Universalist United Nations Office annual service. This year’s theme is All in for Climate Justice: People, Power, Planet. The term climate justice invites us to consider the climate crisis from the perspective of politics, social justice, and human rights, rather than simply a scientific, physical phenomenon. The fact of climate change has far more than mete...orological implications: It will change the way that most species on Earth live. We recognize this as a justice issue because of the possibilities to organize and respond to the climate crisis in a way that prioritizes the needs of those people and communities that are most vulnerable. Rather than examining the scientific causes, impacts, and solutions, this year’s United Nations Sunday theme invites us to explore the human causes, impacts, and solutions. Go to the link in our bio and click on: Access Online Worship for access. We welcomeall genders and sexual orientations, andaccessible to people of all abilities. #SundayService#sfuc#Southfraserunitarians#southrockbuzz #unitarianuniversalists #unitarianuniversalist #community #connectchangecare #youbelong See more
