Today SIPP, City of Victoria - Local Government and the Association of BC Marine Industries announced receipt of $100,000 in federal funding to take the next steps towards an Ocean Futures Innovation Hub for Greater Victoria. To develop the business case and feasibility study, SIPP has contracted a team from Urban Systems Ltd. in BC, Canadian company Hatch, and Engage//Innovate of Norway. The Hub will provide opportunities for compa...nies large, medium and small to grow, increase export capacity, diversify supply chains and create more high-paying local jobs. This innovative project will help nurture the growth of several promising sectors while leveraging Victoria’s long-time strengths. The Canadian government has announced the Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance (CECRA) for small businesses will be extended by one month to help eligible small businesses pay rent for September. Current CECRA application deadlines will also be extended to accommodate this extension. Over 106,000 small business tenants have been supported for a total of $1.32 billion+ in rent support.
