Highlights from our Christmas Concert and Art Show Fundraiser. We raised $1160 for #bcchildrenshospitalfoundation to say thank you for caring for some of our children and their families over the last 2 years. Welcome To Created to Create!... Do you remember your child’s first word? First sentence? First questions? Last year our team Began Asking ourselves some questions: What are the important words? What are the important questions? What if? I wonder? What would we do if we were braver? What would the children do? What would they say if we asked them? What does it really mean to be child-led? We decided to observe the children more and talk less; honouring the children’s ideas more than our own. It took a lot of bravery to share space with the children and allow them to have equal voice in decisions. So this year our concert looks a little different than last year. Next year it will be different again. What we learned by listening: children seek meaningful work; they make meaning as they create We asked, What do you want to show or tell your parents in our concert? This event is the answer to those questions: Spoken word: A long time ago God rocked the universe with an idea. And God spoke his idea saying, I will create! From his voice came A Masterpiece! Humanity; Created to Create. God watched and listened. They needed some help. It was a brave plan, a crazy plan! So crazy that it just might work! He sent a baby! Helpless and needy but filled with potential. His name was Jesus. And that Baby grew. He learned, and wondered and questioned. He wasn’t satisfied with how things were. He wanted something better. When Jesus grew up he let children sit on his lap and he liked them. He talked to them and played with them. He included them in his plans and his ideas. And the children shouted with Joy! Concert: Children enter to Joy to the World! 3-5’s sang Jingle Bells, Santa Shark and We Will Rock You (3-5’s Christmas version) (Art Show and food to follow)
