It's that time of the year again . . . for posting our Christmas hours! In the meantime our office hours are still by appointment only :)

Yay team! We're very pleased to have won a VIBE Award with MAC Renovations for one of our latest collaborations (slides 6 and 7). Congrats to MAC and all the other winners!

Hello everyone, As things start opening up a bit more and we start heading towards the "new normal," I thought Id share a quick update about how our business is loosening restrictions: - Our Lake Cowichan office is still closed to the general public. We are in the office and reachable by phone/email from 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Since we are in the process of moving to our new showroom next door, our current showroom is also closed and our show pieces have been r...e-fitted to office space. - Our Langford showroom is BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. We ask that you please continue to sanitize and respect social distancing measures when you visit. Please call me at 250-932-2004 or email [email protected] to book an appointment. - We are limiting site visits, so please feel free to send plans/inquiries via email. To give you an idea of our schedule, we are currently booking into late winter/early next year. - We are continuing to sanitize and follow Health Canada protocols in our shop, jobsites, and delivery vehicles. Very excited to be working on this sustainable home with Ora Homes! For more information on Passive Houses like this and the Living Building Challenge make sure to check out the projects website (https://www.azehna.org/); heres a quick summary taken from the home page: "The Azehna Project is a high performance, and net zero energy home, which will generate all its energy on site through the use of solar panels and designing the building to require about 90% less energy than a conventional home. All of the homes water needs will be generated through rainwater collection. The aim of the project is create a home that is inspired by and regenerates the natural environment, and is sustainably built, using low embodied-carbon, recycled, and non-toxic materials."

A lot of effort and thought is put in by the designers we work with for each project, as seen here with this recent powder room we collaborated on with Jenny Martin Designs

Congratulations everyone, we finally made it to the end of the year - I mean, uh, week. Since a large part of my job used to and no longer involves being in public, I thought Id compile a fun list of my favourite online resources for design and construction in this weeks blog. Good morning everyone, Im sure I dont have to tell you that were living through confusing and scary times. In order to alleviate a bit of that confusion, we want to address what were doing as a business to respond to the situation here in Lake Cowichan: Yes, our warehouse is still open. We are operating with a skeleton staff of less than 10 people, all of whom are taking sanitary and distancing measures as directed by the federal and provincial government: ... - Every member of the staff is wearing protective masks and gloves that comply with Health Canada standards. - Work stations are well over six feet apart; our warehouse has four different sections and only one or two people work in a section at one time. - During work hours there is no sharing of equipment, protective materials, or tools. During break there is no use of microwaves, fridges, coffee, creamer, or anything else communal. Employees are able to take their breaks somewhere in the shop, outside, or in their vehicles. - The bathrooms, work stations, and any other high traffic areas are cleaned after use and thoroughly every two days. - Our installers are working on their own on site and are observing the proper distancing and sanitation methods. Our delivery drivers are doing the same. When we receive deliveries they are wiped down. - Nobody is in contact with the public. Our offices and showrooms are closed. Our warehouse is off-limits to the public. Our work-sites are limited to one trade at a time. There is no face-to-face contact with clients. - If someone is experiencing symptoms (whether associated with COVID-19 or not) or is at a risk for complications from the virus, they have been sent home for a 14 day self-isolation. Anyone who has traveled recently has also been sent home. We dont conduct business trips off the island and will continue not to do so. In the event that we are ordered to shut down we will obviously do so. Until then we will continue to operate to the best of our ability with only essential crew. These are unprecedented times and we are doing our best to keep our employees and our community safe. We will continue to review and update our protocols as directed. At this time we remain open for business but please note that we are restricting our showrooms to APPOINTMENT ONLY. Please call 250-920-2003 (Langford) or 250-932-2004 (Lake Cowichan) prior to coming in. We are stepping up our sanitization and cleaning in both locations, but we would still like to limit traffic in and out of the building, especially since some of our office staff are at an elevated risk from the virus.
