PARENT WELLNESS GROUP Caring for yourself can be challenging when you spend your day caring for others. This seven week workshop is an opportunity to share and discuss with other parents how to make sure our own needs are being met so we can be the best parents we can be. Topics will include, but are not limited to, self compassion, physical and emotional needs, mindfulness and calming techniques. This parenting group will meet weekly online. Ideas will be expanded... upon through group discussion and fun activities. As we wrap up our first Family Place Week, we would like to thank our volunteers, our staff and our funders for their commitment, enthusiasm and continued support of the Family Place Partnership. During COVID-19, community programs have had to adapt to provide safe services. While we have brought many of our programs back, we recognize that we are in a unique position to help further. We are looking at who needs us and how we can help with outreach programs. We continue to provide parent support groups on Zoom with Renee, 1-1 counselling, drop-in groups.

South Vancouver Family Place creates a nurturing environment for parents, caregivers and children. The Family Place Partnership is in a unique position to assist the community in building connections. It aims to create a sense of belonging in the community by being open and welcoming to all families and to bridge cultures, ages and social class to increase acceptance of diversity. We do this by integrating immigrants and newcomers to the city, celebrating different cultural occasions at the centres, promoting diversity, inclusion and a...nti-racism. Recent feedback from our members highlighted how they valued FP because they did not have family locally or were new to Vancouver or Canada. Many described how the FP community became a real family for them. FP staff became aunties to their children, fellow participants became siblings, volunteering at FP was experienced as helping out in one’s own kitchen. See more
