Southwest Miramichi Bay du Vin NDP 04.02.2021

I would like to make a correction on my earlier post of condolences on the tragic loss of three young boys on Sunday. Later information informs that two of the boys were from Gray Rapids and one was from Blackville.

Congratulations to Jake Stewart on his win Monday night and his return to the legislature. I would also like to thank my other opponents, Art O'Donnell and Josh McCormack, for their willingness to put their names forward for their parties and play a role in the democratic process.

This will probably be my last comment before Monday's election-unless something big pops up and I feel the need to comment. I think candidates should take the day off tomorrow and give voters a chance to sift over things in their minds before voting on Monday. We have started finally to see a break through in this province of the old political pattern of alternately putting the Liberals or the PCs in power. These past two years have showed minority governments can work with co-operation among all parties. Let's keep going. Let's put some NDP members in the legislature and let us prove to you we can get things done in a new co-operative style of governing.

Boiestown United Church recently tried to stream a Sunday service from the Doaktown United Church to its own sanctuary. But before getting too far into the service the Internet connection died and that was the end of Sunday service for them. This is yet another example of how the Miramichi area, and much of rural NB, is under served and badly served by the Internet providers. The Boiestown UC officials are particularly concerned about their seniors, disconnected and isolated from their church community because of the pandemic. They have written to the four candidates in this riding asking them to address this issue. I want to assure them that I will make this a priority and urge our leader Mackenzie Thomason and any of our NDP candidates elected into the legislature to also make this a priority.
