The idea about all the restrictions in place is to ensure that admissions to hospital and pressure on the healthcare system is over a longer period of time and with less people all at once. This increases the ability to maintain our healthcare teams response on the Island. The measures put in place (mentioned in the previous post) are to help us achieve this. It is not over the top as some may say; it is necessary management in a pandemic. It does rely on the public following the guidelines.
COVID-19: WAYS YOU CAN HELP -Stop shaking hands -Reduce hand contact with surfaces: Use your elbow for buttons where you can, or your body to push doors for example -Cough into the crook of your elbow or a tissue and dispose of it immediately... - Wash your hands regularly for 20 seconds with clean water and soap - Use antibacterial gel in between washing hands - Be aware of touching your face and try to break habits such as nail biting! - If you are sick, stay home. - Practice social distancing See more
URGENT: DO NOT GO TO ER WITH MILD COVID-19 SYMPTOMS. IF YOU BELIEVE YOU HAVE THE VIRUS: STAY HOME. SELF ISOLATE. AS A CLINIC, WE DO NOT HAVE THE SUPPLIES TO TEST. IF YOU ARE VERY SICK / SYMPTOMATIC WITH A HIGH FEVER, DIFFICULTY BREATHING AND ACUTELY UNWELL CALL NRGH ER AHEAD OF TIME.... WE, AS A PROVINCE, HAVE A SHORTAGE OF SWABS THAT NEED TO BE RESERVED FOR SICK, SYMPTOMATIC PATIENTS. WHEN MORE SWABS COME IN, MORE TESTS CAN BE PERFORMED. STAY UP TO DATE. http://medicalstaff.islandhealth.ca//patient-handout-covid

Its back to school season and bugs abound! "Viruses: Viruses do not need antibiotics. Although ear and sinus infections can be caused by either bacteria or viruses, bacterial infections often develop after a viral infection and usually resolve without antibiotics. The Canadian Pediatric Society recommends watchful waiting as the preferred treatment for ear infections in children over the age of 6 months to see if the infection will go away on its own."... Interesting information from the BC Centre for Disease Control. http://www.bccdc.ca//prevention-publ/antibiotic-resistance
Please remember to book ahead for prescription refills. To offer you the best possible care, it is important that your doctor sees you.
We are hiring! Please see the indeed link for more information. https://tinyurl.com/y5e32d9n
