We regret to inform you that the Aurora Art Show and Sale, scheduled to take place on October 3 and 4, has been cancelled. I can assure you, the Town of Aurora in partnership with SOYRA brainstormed every possible alternative plan to host the event this year, but it is unfortunately not possible. A number of factors influenced this decision, one being Aurora Town Hall’s continued closure to the public.
Grab your brushes, paints and head out to scout for a great location in King Township!
Congratulations to Lucy Quintero. Her beautiful artwork is on the cover of the fall issue of Mosaic!

Last November, we were looking forward to John McQuade from Fleming College as a guest speaker. His talk was focused on Miksang, a Tibetan word roughly translating to ‘good eye’. Miksang is a discipline of perception that connects clear seeing and delivers equivalent images that are simple, brilliant and heartfelt. It is not just about taking photographs; it is about the experience of seeing and expressing what we see clearly and precisely through the medium of photography. Learn to see the world in a fresh way. An extensive power outage throughout Aurora caused the cancellation of that presentation. We re-booked McQuade for our June meeting. And then the pandemic changed everything. John looks forward to meeting SOYRA members at some future date. It was interesting to read this blog on Painterskeys about the concepts of Miksang.
To all our followers, programs and activities are still 'on hold' for the foreseeable future. In the meantime, please enjoy some of these current online exhibitions. SOYRA members are exhibiting!
