November 20th is the International Transgender Day of Remembrance. We’re taking time to remember and memorialize those who have been murdered due to anti-trans violence. When talking about transphobia, the connection between transmisogyny and whorephobia is often left out of the conversation. While trans women in general face higher rates of violence, this violence is compounded for trans feminine sex workers, and trans feminine sex workers of colour. The systemic biases aga...inst trans people inherently limit access to traditional employment, housing, and health care. Trans women who engage in sex work also often lack protection, validation and justice as the criminal justice system has historically ignored the inherent rights and humanity of sex workers. Today we wish to not only mourn the loss of trans women, but also bring attention to the rights of trans sex workers who experience high rates of violence. #TDOR2020 *If you’d like more resources, we encourage you to visit the Transgender Day of Rememberance Wall at: https://padlet.com/thelanding/7w9ok3sx9wfx5m0h
