The Brighton Block has been another long haul project for our team. Ken and PRIMAVERA Development Group have done a masterful job of bringing her back from from the edge. Just beautiful to see how the building is coming together.

We were deeply honoured to be awarded this plaque by the Edmonton Historical Board for the restoration and historical designation of the Gibbard Block. And it was with great pleasure that we celebrated the event with Mike & Connie Comeau, the former owners of the Gibbard Block and La Boheme restaurant who have tended the building faithfully for the past 20 years.

The transformation of the 2nd floor of Gibbard Block from a web of century-old 2x4s to an open floor of cowork space. Here's a sneak peak as we complete the last touches of base building construction on the 2nd floor. Buildout of the cowork offices and common areas is scheduled to begin in May.

This beautiful beast of a boiler has served the Gibbard Block faithfully for a century through all seasons. She has many stories to tell. In her youth, she gobbled piles of coal delivered from the sidewalk through the coal chute on the west wall. In her middle-age, she upgraded to a natural gas feed and kept on chugging. She is now retired from active mechanical duty, but she's not done yet. She has another glorious round of service to offer that we hope will keep her happy f...or another hundred years. Yes, the team has some very exciting plans for this room. But shhhh, still top secret for now.

With a bit more sunshine and some green in them trees, the Gibbard Block's pristine new rooftop looks like a perfect spot to build in a patio deck for summertime beers and snacks. Just sayin...!

As we're putting the last touches on base building construction for Gibbard Block, construction on the main floor and third floor are already underway. We'll have a full reveal of the bed & breakfast micro-habitation units coming up soon, once the designers have had their way with colours and finishes. But here's an early sneak peak to feed your curiosity.

We're excited to welcome YEGarden Suites and its co-founders Ashley Salvador and Travis Fong to the Gibbard Block cowork! YEGarden Suites promotes and advocat...es for the development of laneway housing in Edmonton. This includes important forms of backyard infill such as garage suites and granny flats! To add to the excitement, they're going to be our cowork community manager for Gibbard Block! What a great addition to the Sparrow Spaces community.
