In spite of our Heritage Museum being closed this summer, we were so fortunate to have Cara Callahan , our CSJ student and Mary Hutchings, Vice Chair , take on ...the workload of cleaning, reorganizing, enhancing and promoting the overall quality and historic relevance of our collections and exhibits. These ladies worked tirelessly and enthusiastically to utilize space, upgrade archival information and signage and improve the appearance and visual appeal of our beautiful heritage building. They certainly went above and beyond all my expectations and deserve many , many thanks of appreciation. The community is very fortunate to have such committed and dedicated people to support and maintain our heritage and local history. We thank all of you who responded to our posts, purchased items and supported our efforts. Hopefully we will be able to open our doors to welcome you next summer! Summer staff worked diligently to utilize space, create attractive displays, update exhibits and signage. A wonderful transformation as you can see! We will look forward to opening our Heritage Museum to the public next summer so everyone can visit and enjoy our fabulous collection of artifacts and memorabilia.

Museum Minute Here is an excerpt from Folk Cures and Practical Magic that we have on sale here at the museum. It is filled with lots of home remedies from years ago, told by the residents of Spaniard’s Bay.
We have a few prayer book holders remaining. They are great for files, holding mail, cook books, whatever you could imagine! $5 each.
Hello everyone! We are currently looking for an old pair of long johns to add to our archives. If you or anyone you know has a pair and would be interested in donating them to the museum, please contact us through our Facebook page.

Museum Minute During the fall of 1946 this slide was built by Arthur Lewis Drover for his first born son, Donald. This slide was constructed from material that was available to him at the time. Unfortunately, Donald passed away at 18 months old of convulsions caused by pneumonia and never got to ride in the slide. The slide was put in the attic at his father’s house and remained there until the house was damaged by fire in 1998. The slide was always referred to as, Donald’s... Slide This slide was donated by Donald’s siblings.
Museum Minute! The last person to be carried on the summer hearse was Mr.Henry Pike in May, 1955. He was 77 years old. The horse drawn winter hearse is also housed in our museum. ... This hearse is the property of No Surrender Lodge #15, Spaniard’s Bay.
