Today I worked on phonological awareness with my little one. We found bugs in the sensory bin and then counted how many syllables each one had. Then we squished balls of play dough as we said each syllable (this one is dra-gon-fly). #speakvolumestherapy #homeschooltherapy #stayhomesavelives

Shared reading between parents and very young children, including infants, is associated with stronger vocabulary skills by age 3. According to research publish...ed in The Journal of Pediatrics, this is also true for children who genetically may be vulnerable to barriers in learning, attention and behavior development. You can learn more about the value of shared reading through our I’m Ready and ABC and Beyond workshops, programs and resources. Visit our website to find out more.

I love the Poke-A-Dot books and kids love them too! They promote great interaction since kids get to poke the popping bubbles in the book. This book is great for working on counting, one to one correspondence, animal vocabulary and plurals. #earlyliteracy #spewkvolumestherapy #earlyintervention #speechtherapy

Thank you to @speechroomnews for the great idea to collect objects corresponding to speech sounds for therapy as well as storing them in colorful photo boxes. I’m excited to use these in sensory bins! #speechroomnews #speakvolumestherapy #learningthroughplay #earlyintervention #speechtherapy

I love planning treatment sessions off of a theme or in this case the book Five Little Monkeys. I often pair the reading of this book with the board game pictured and the folder with visuals found on kizclub.com. This book is amazing to use with children to have them fill in the blank when you pause while reading it. I often use this for working on jaw grading (opening) or final /d/. #speakvolumestherapy #earlyintervention #kizclub #speechtherapy http://kizclub.com/storypatterns/monkeys(C).pdf

I created some notebooks for families to fill with suggestions for home practice between sessions. I’m hoping they will be well used and worn in no time! #speakvolumestherapy #parentparticipation #parentsaretheirchildsfirstteacher #earlyintervention #homepractice
