It is with great sorrow that we are announcing the Special Olympics Canada Summer Games 2022 in Medicine Hat have been cancelled. Special Olympics has not found a way to safely and successfully hold the 2021 Provincial Games, which led to this decision. Although we all wish we could be attending the Spring Provincial Games today, COVID-19 caused all activities to be postponed. Despite this, the Waterloo Regional Police have put together many events and fundraisers to help make the games successful. So today we encourage all athletes and community members to send their gratitude to the Waterloo Regional Police. We wish them and you the best during this pandemic!

The goal is to walk the distance across Canada together to help bring the community together while continuing to social distance. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we will be postponing the Spring Games until further notice. Special Olympics and the Waterloo Regional Police Service believe this is the best option in order to keep everyone safe and healthy. Despite this announcement, we encourage all participants and members of the community to stay active throughout this time.
