This is a shorter companion piece to the previous time-lapse clip post. This only shows a swiping between the pre-construction October, 2019 image and the November 20th, 2020 image. @St. Joseph's Villa and Foundation Ira McDonald Construction Limited

A timelapse of the building of St. Joseph's Villa and Foundation Margaret's Place Hospice from preconstruction to November 20th, 2020. 21 different time stamps from a top down view. Ira McDonald Construction Limited is the general contractor. Each ortho-rectified image is made from roughly 400 images taken in a repeatable programmed flight which are then stitched together during post processing. One of many useful uses of an ortho-mosaic is to accurately overlay the site ...design plan transparency from the civil engineer as early in the design phase as possible and determine if any potential clash issues exist. If there seems to be an issue, then that can be resolved before a shovel hits the ground; thus resulting in reduction of unnecessary losses in budgeted time and dollars. The cost of 'real time' aerial imagery is minimal to the losses found during construction. See more

This week at the St. Joseph's Villa and Foundation 's Margaret’s Place Hospice building site, the construction is moving ahead nicely! Ira McDonald Construction Limited states the wood framing, the mechanical and the electrical roughing in is continuing at a good pace. The details of the progress include the all important concrete floors, are being poured in the West Wing section of the hospice! The gravel access road, at the rear of the hospice, is being graded now as well!... This access road lies immediately adjacent to the ravine and is designed to utilize the natural slope of the ravine for support. This means, that there are no unwelcome pillars and retaining walls between the rooms of the hospice and the gorgeous valley. Two decorative armourstone, big block berms, are being created along the west side of the property, to assist in creating a natural visual break between properties next to the hospice! These armourstone berms are 2 metres in height and 12 and 14 metres in length. The metal supports that will hold the two cooling unit's are being fabricated. They are placed in the basement area known as the "mechanical well'. These cooling units, in addition to the natural wooded surroundings, will assist in keeping the residents, the hospice staff, and visitors comfortable throughout the year. The west wing's exterior wood framing once completed, will be the starting point for the roofing systems to be put in place. These systems include, insulation, metal strapping, eavestroughs and water proofing membranes. The north wing roof on the other hand, will become a living , green roof. That should prove to be a wonderful feature to accompany the natural surroundings and to give a balance to the overall aesthetic of the hospice. Last, but certainly not least, I was able to get a glimpse of the rear patio location! It will be a place to truly enjoy and feel stress flow away! Everyone involved in the building of the hospice is looking forward to seeing this when it is completed! This has been Roger Sterman, of Spectrum Aerial Imaging, signing off from the future Margaret's Place Hospice located at St. Joseph’s Villa in Dundas, Ontario! Thank you for watching.

Landscaping Aerial Image Differences I've attached a jpg that shows a stitched set of 5 images next to a single image. If you look at different aspects of the yard, the differences between these two can be seen in what shows on the pool deck, the roof, the patio railing, the house below's exterior wall, and the extreme backyard fence area, you can see the difference between the two methods of landscape shooting. The 5 image stitch is the most accurate nadir portrayal and thus... for taking measurements. The pool deck area for instance when looking straight down, the small round blue chair really is covered by tree canopy as is more of the pool and deck area compared to the single overhead shot. Also, since the single shot needs to be taken from a higher elevation to get the entire area in, it has a reduced pixel resolution(less detail per pixel) than the 5 lower elevation taken stitched images. #Hamont #landscaping #landscapedesign #landscapearchitecture #realestate #dronephotographer #aerialphotography #landscapeplanning #distortion #dji See more
