Stuart Shankar is speaking at The Autism Society's 40th-anniversary conference!!! This is your opportunity to hear from an emotional regulation expert in real life! (Well virtually, but in real time). Get ready NL can you hear the shift about to happen? We can. THIS IS LIKE CHRISTMAS! Thanks, Autism Society, Newfoundland & Labrador for making this happen. We love the work happening at The MEHRIT Centre, Ltd.! It is going to be FANTASTIC!
SO very exciting.
STARTS TOMORROW! At this 6-hour learning series, I provide attendees with research-based tips on child development, toxic stress, attachment styles, and how the anxious brain/body works. I will show why following 'The Three C's - Calm, Connected and Compassionate' approaches can support positive mental health in our neurodiverse children, homes and communities. At each session, I will explain how parents and professionals can support emotional regulation through neuro-knowle...dge. I will show how to practice a new, smarter, easier, and more comfortable way of approaching challenging behaviours. The activities we will cover are based in developmentally appropriate brain science, designed to lower anxiety/rigid thoughts while fostering connection and attunement. All of this comes together to set the stage for deeper connection and emotional regulation. Here is what I know, you will leave these sessions asking yourself, 'Why have I never learned this information before?!' We are less than a week away! Do you have your seat yet? This workshop series is designed for forward-thinking parents, educational leaders and professionals. Meet like-minded parents, guardians, teachers, school counsellors, and mental health professionals who know there is a better way to support neuro-diverse culture. We have the potential to cultivate a more supportive and truly inclusive community. Autism is complex, but it no longer needs to be seen as a mystery - and you don't have to be a graduate from a neuroscience school to help. Seeing autism from a more neuro-friendly lens requires a brave shift in thinking. When we listen to the science along with Autistic voices, we become informed and empowered. We also become allies of neurodiversity. Learn More and Register Here - https://mailchi.mp/lauriepinhorn/reframing-autism
April Is Just Around The Corner! The history of why Autistic services got so married to behaviourism is long and complex. But the Autism world is changing, and we must be flexible and move along with the new science. We must also listen to the voices of Autistics to guide us to a more accepting, connected, and empathy-filled neurodiverse world. - https://mailchi.mp/lauriepinhorn/april-is-almost-here
