Spectrum is pleased to announce its executive directors for the 2020-2021 academic year! Please join me in welcoming Lucas Youmans ad Sabrina White as co-executive directors! We wish them nothing but the best in their tenure as co-executive directors! Cheers! Sabrina White is entering her second year as a Master of Global Affairs student at the Munk School. She previously graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Creative Writing. Her interes...ts include LGBT+ policy, immigration, and community rebuilding. Lucas Youmans is a Joint Juris Doctor and Master of Public Policy Candidate at the University of Toronto. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from McGill University. His research experience in the academic, non-profit, and public sectors has included working as a public international law research fellow with Amnesty International Canada, and serving on the Senior Editorial Board of the peer-reviewed Journal of Law and Equality. Looking to the future, he intends to pursue a career at the intersection of public interest law and human rights advocacy
hello all, given recent developments, #Spectrum has decided to cancel our upcoming event. we were really excited for how many of you showed interest in learning about the queer history of our city. hopefully we can reschedule sometime in the near future. stay safe all! :) - Dean
Please join Spectrum for our final event of the 2019/2020 school year! Toronto is home to Canada’s largest gay community. LGBTQ2S people have played a large role in the history of the city but are often overlooked in its retelling. Stories of queer Toronto can be found all over the city, including the street and parks around campus. Join Spectrum for a Queer History Walk starting at 5:00pm from 1 Devonshire Place. The walk will be approximately an hour long and will end in t...he Gay Village, or The Village at Glad Day Bookstore. The Village is a predominantly LGBTQ2S neighbourhood nestled within Toronto’s downtown core. Centred at the intersection of Church and Wellesley Streets, the area is packed with cafés, restaurants, gay-oriented shops and a vast array of hot bars and nightspots. You are welcome to explore the area after we end the tour. Hope to see you all there! Hopefully the weather is great and we can all take a well-deserved break from the hectic final month of school :) Please register below! https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/an-lgbtq2s-history-of-toronto-t
