The only thing better than a great graphic is a great graphic that cites the research source of your message! Thank you @thesltscrapbook. Speech pathologists know their methods are ‘evidence based’ and we see our strategies work every single day. #speechhearbc #slpeeps #speechlanguagepathology #earlyintervention #speechlanguagetherapy
We value all forms of communication. Every individual has thoughts and feelings to express and a need to belong. We mustn’t perpetuate the notion that AAC is inferior to speech, it’s simply a different way to communicate. #speechhearbc #slpeeps #AAC #speechlanguagepathology
Here is an excellent blog that will either inspire your play, your therapy, your shopping, or all of the above. Thank you Mrs Speechie P for the fun ideas. https://www.facebook.com/1164013180364844/posts/3092304420869034/?d=n #speechhearbc #SLPeeps #speechlanguagepathology #speechlanguagetherapy #earlyintervention #play
A wonderful tip from Speech Mamas. #speechhearbc #slpeeps #speechlanguagetherapy #EarlyIntervention
Older children that have communication challenges benefit from speech language therapy. Incorporating peers and technology into practice boosts motivation. Thank you @thelisteningslp for your recommendation of therapy materials. #speechhearbc #slpeeps #speechlanguagepathologist #speechlanguagetherapy
Speech language pathologists differentiate motherease from baby talk. Motherease is defined as the simplified and repetitive type of speech, with exaggerated intonation and rhythm, often used by adults when speaking to babies. This is observed in multiple languages, leading researchers to believe this is a universal phenomenon. Thanks for an excellent graphic @thespeechiecorner #speechhearbc #slpeeps #earlylanguagedevelopment
Do you know the signs of hearing loss in children? #speechhearbc #slpeeps #audpeeps

Do you remember having a toy doctor kit as a child and your dolls and teddies were your patients? What were your favourite toys? Pretend play is so important and as many of us start our holiday shopping, just say no to electronic toys or toys with batteries. Thank you SLP Corner for your timely reminder. #speechhearbc #SLPeeps #speechlanguagepathology #speechlanguagetherapy #pretendplay #pretendplaytoys #play
Thank you Speech and Hearing BC for your kindness during these unprecedented times. Members check your email if you have not already seen the announcement that we will have our membership fees reduced this year. Be calm, be kind, be safe. #speechhearbc #audpeeps #SLPeeps
Did you know that speech language pathologists and audiologists are involved from birth throughout the lifespan? #speechhearbc #audpeeps #slpeeps #speechlanguagepathologist #speechlanguagepathology
Here is an awesome graphic from Speech Meta Therapy Services reminding us to think about how many different words you can model beyond a label. Remember the plus one rule, adding one word to your child’s utterance. For example, if your child says, cookie then you could add a word and model, yummy cookie or if your child says, big cookie you could add a word and say, big chocolate cookie. Practice until it becomes your new habit. This works with AAC, too! #speechhearbc #slpeeps #earlyintervention

The difficulties that a stutterer may encounter while wearing a mask never occurred to me. This article also contains some useful strategies. #speechhearbc #slpeeps #stutteringawareness
Early intervention is so important for so many reasons. If you have concerns about your child’s communication skills, please do not delay in seeking a speech-language assessment. Thank you @mrsspeechiep for this reminder. #speechhearbc #slpeeps #earlyintervention #speechlanguagepathology #speechlanguagetherapy
Welcome to Day One of of our annual Speech and Hearing BC Conference. It’s virtual this year so it’s looking a bit different and I miss seeing you! Show me your conference setting. #speechhearbc #slpeeps #audpeeps #2020SHBC
The message is always more important than how it is said. Joe Biden is an excellent example and an awesome opportunity for us to bring stuttering to the forefront in our conversations and educate others. https://www.med.ubc.ca//how-joe-bidens-stutter-helps-peo/ #speechhearbc #slpeeps #stutteringawareness
Today is stuttering awareness day! One thing that we can all do is to be aware of the language we use when we discuss stuttering. Stuttering is not bad, wrong or inferior. It is simply a different way of talking. Change the dialogue. #speechhearbc #slpeeps #stutteringawareness
It is important to remember that telling a child what not to do, does not help them learn the expected behaviour. Thank you @weetalkers for a nice reminder. #speechhearbc #slpeeps #earlyintervention #speechlanguagepathology
Thank you for being my speech bestie! It’s great to know people that just get how important communication is, share the passion and cheer each other on. Awesome visual @talkabouttalking! #speechhearbc #slpeeps #speechbestie #speechlanguagepathology
Teach language first. Teach colours, numbers, shapes and letters next, and always in a language context. Thank you @theSLTscrapbook for this nice reminder. #speechhearbc #slpeeps #earlylanguagedevelopment
