We have updated the COVID-19 response information on our website. Teletherapy appointments are open for new clients.
Some children with autism are very good readers with poor comprehension of what they are reading. I recently found a useful series of apps by Computerade Products that can help with this. These apps have children practice matching written sentences to pictures (or vice versa) or they let children practice making simple sentences of their own. This is a great tool for parents or SLPs looking to help learners bridge the gap between reading words and understanding them.
Check out our amazing clinic!
Dear Speech Bubbles families, In order to help reduce the spread of COVID19, all Speech Bubbles appointments will be cancelled until April 1st, 2020. If you have any questions or concerns, please send us an email at [email protected] or give us a call at 604-539-8320.... Stay safe, wash your hands, and hopefully we will see you again very soon. Best wishes, David Rennie, MSpPathSt Registered Speech-Language Pathologist

Keri Opai, the civil servant who helped devise the words, said they had been chosen not only to fill gaps in the Maori vocabulary, but also to ensure that the terms are non-judgemental. "In my experience, people with autism tend to have their own timing, spacing, pacing and life-rhythm, so I interpreted autism as takiwatanga, meaning his or her own time and space," he told government-funded Maori Television. #autism #autismawareness
