This is a feel good story we just had to share......... A New York Story It's pre-pandemic March. Our artist Carl Karni-Bain "BAI" who lives in New York, is painting en plein air in his Harlem neighbourhood. A gentleman walks by then abruptly returns to stare at four of his small paintings. "Acrylic or oil?", he asks. Acrylic says BAI, "I've got more." The man looks intently at the other paintings and nods. Another day he's passing again and asks about the price, "that's a... reasonable price." Yet another day he passes by again and tells BAI "These are very strong paintings. I should know, my paintings sells for 100s of 1000s of dollars". Cool, says BAI. The gentleman walks away. Last month, BAI opens his regular e-blast from The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. There's an artist being interviewed while he's painting. The artist turns around to respond to a question, the camera zooms in and it's the same gentleman who had admired his work. It's Gerhard Richter. It never hurts to get a nod from an artist regarded as one of the most important of the 20th century or the best living painter.
