Please visit our wesbite: https://www.spencerdentistry.ca/covid-19-protocol to view our COVID-19 Protocol. Ontario is slowly starting to re-open, but things are still a little different. We have reviewed the new mandated requirements; and we are ready to open to our new normal as of Monday, June 8th. Thank you in advance for your kindness and patience and together we will all make this transition as smoothly and safely as possible. We are all in this together and we look forw...ard to reconnecting again! We have missed you! Dr. Kari Spencer, Dr. Aida Kashigar, Dr. Sunil Persaud and the Amazing Spencer Dentistry Team

Many people miss the gum line the area where the tooth meets the gum while brushing. You can clean this area more effectively by holding your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle. Don’t forget the gums facing the tongue as well!

Your safety and well-being is extremely important to us, which is why you will see some new additions at Spencer Dentistry. Every operatory has been outfitted with a Surgically Clean Jade Air Purifier and in our reception area is a Surgically Clean Cascade Purifier. These medical grade purifiers have been developed specifically for dental offices and other health care settings. Each one uses multi-stage purifying technology to remove viruses and bio-aerosols, which helps to clean and re-energize the indoor air. In these challenging times, we continue to update our protocols to safely deliver dental care to our valued patients.

Do you use a hard-bristled toothbrush? Although they sound more effective at removing plaque buildup, toothbrushes with hard bristles are abrasive and can cause enamel erosion. It only takes a small amount of force to get rid of plaque, so it’s best to just stick to a soft-bristled brush and light amount of pressure.

Over a quarter of adults don’t brush twice each day. That increases their risk of developing cavities by 33 percent.

WHY IS DENTISTRY IMPORTANT? Because even though he is missing an eyebrow, the first thing you notice is his smile!

Countless dental emergencies happen while not following the rules around the pool. By teaching your kids to walk instead of run around the hard outer edge of the pool, you can keep them from breaking a tooth and needing an unexpected dental emergency. Enjoy the hot weather!

Even though your enamel is made from the hardest material in your entire body, it’s not indestructible. If you experience dental sensitivity, it could be a sign of enamel erosion. A great way to combat this is to switch to a special toothpaste for sensitive teeth that can help rebuild enamel.

Yes, the news is true! However, just like every other business opening in the province there are new policies and procedures along with detailed guidelines that have been mandated from the government and the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (our governing body) in order for us to open. Important details of our changes will be communicated to you in advance of your appointment. Thank you for your kindness and patience and together we will all make this transition as smoothly and safely as possible. We are all in this together and we look forward to reconnecting again! Stress wearing you down? It could be wearing your teeth down, too. Teeth grinding, over-indulging and poor sleep take a toll. Exercising for 30 minutes a day while maintaining social distancing, eating a healthy diet, and regularly brushing and flossing all can help reduce stress and prevent an emergency trip to the dentist. See the spinach stuck in that person’s teeth? Then you’re way too close! Whether you’re at the grocery store, going for a walk or sitting in a waiting room, always keep at least two metres apart from other people. While toothpicks may seem harmless, they can damage your teeth. They can irritate gum tissue and wear on the grooves of your teeth. When you have something stuck in your teeth, clean it out with floss instead.
