Sept. 30 is Orange Shirt Day. It was established in recognition of the harm the residential school system did to children's sense of self-esteem and well being,... and as an affirmation of our commitment to ensure that everyone around us matters. The origins of the orange shirt come from Phyllis (Jack) Webstad's experience of having a special orange shirt taken from her when she was sent to a residential school.
