Dear valued patients: The UCP Government has proposed major cuts and changes to primary care delivery in our province starting early 2020. The changes directly affect how patients have timely access to comprehensive care. The most troubling effects of these proposed changes could lead to are: Increased wait times for appointments... Less time spent with your physician during an appointment A decreased focus on preventative care Increased costs for seniors due to government no longer funding mandatory senior driver’s medicals. The consequences will be felt hardest by our most complex and vulnerable patients. But all patients will be affected. If you are strongly opposed to Alberta Health’s proposed changes, please take a moment to sign the petition at the front desk. Sphinx Medical Group is teaming up with Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Data collected in Canada alone shows approximately 300 000 people that live with type 1 diabetes, of those, 33 000 are children. JDRF is hosting an event called the Sun Life Ride to Defeat Diabetes and all it takes to participate is riding a stationary bike for seven minutes. So, how can YOU get involved?... Resources for all these programs JDRF runs comes from generous volunteers and donors such as yourself. A great opportunity to support the cause is the Sun Life Ride to Defeat Diabetes. The Sun Life Ride to Defeat Diabetes in support of JDRF is a high-energy corporate event, where teams of 5 share a 50-minute ride on a stationary bike. Teams are asked to raise a minimum of $150 per person ($750 as a team) in order to participate in this incredible day. It is is the ultimate corporate team building event where we can show Sphinx Medical Group pride as we compete with other companies from our sector right across the country. If you want to get involved please forward your interest to: [email protected]. Those who cannot attend the main event can still fundraise or donate to support the Sphinx team. For those who cannot attend the main ride event, donations of $20 or more receive a tax receipt. The Sun Life Ride to Defeat Diabetes for JDRF on September 20th at the World Health City Centre is an annual event where teams register and compete to raise money for type 1 diabetes research in a friendly competition. The rules for the event are as follows Teams of at least 5 must raise a total of $750 per team ($150 per person). At the event the team will share a 50 minute cycling ride in a competitive and fun environment.
