A big welcome to incoming students of the Professional Writing Program, and a big welcome back to those entering Level 3 in September! We're migrating our Spine Online Facebook page over Algonquin College Professional Writing, so people can find us more easily. If you are a student in the program, do Like us (yourselves) there! That's where all new posts will be. Graduates and anyone else interested in what we do in the program, and the writing life we all love and aspire to, are also welcome to join us. It's going to be an exciting semester! www.spineonline.ca

We don’t know about you but we’re pretty excited that it’s Friday! Today we sat down and talked to Mikayla Spitse about her placement experience. What has working on this magazine taught you? Communication skills within a group for sure. You constantly need to be communicating with one another about progress and to check that everyone's on track. If one person falls behind, you all do.... What were you most excited about? I was excited for the design element of it. Putting things together, choosing fonts and colours, etc. What advice do you have for future students doing placement on campus? Don't accept it just because you think it's going to be easier than going out for placement, because while you spend less time having to be at one specific location, it still is incredibly time consuming.
