The Sharing Place Food Centre in Orillia "provides food assistance through [their] Food Bank Program. The Food Bank provides a 4-day emergency supply of healthy food once a month to families and individuals who identify as food insecure." At Christmas, Powassan Lion's Club provides 45-50 baskets for people in the community who do not have the means to provide a sufficient Christmas for their families; and Spire Advisors was happy to contribute to this initiative. Throughout the year, Powassan Lion's Club also supports:... Camp Huronda, for children with juvenile diabetes Local library renovations + additions North Bay Regional Health Centre Wheelchair ramps/chair lifts throughout the community and more, including assistance given to a family whose house burned down this year, plus another family who needed a specialty van Due to COVID-19, the club has not been able to hold important fundraising events, such as their breakfasts at the Maple Syrup Festival, or scheduled suppers for the community. Their fish fry and raffles have also been canceled.
