May 22nd, 2020 Dear Spirit Kids Families, The Spirit Kids Leadership Team met last week and made the decision to postpone the opening of our Spirit Kids program until September at the earliest. This will impact our summer camp programs. Our summer programs were scheduled to run for 7 weeks over the months of July and August providing childcare for a minimum of 15 children per day from 7am to 6pm. We have reviewed the suggested health regulations and guidelines provided by t...he province of British Columbia and feel that at this time we do not have the capacity to meet those requirements. Although this is a difficult decision we feel the safety and well-being of children under our care as well as our employees needs to be our first priority. We are also concerned that with the required ratios of children to staff as well as with the cleaning regulations we would most likely run at a deficit and this would likely put the program in jeopardy for the long term. As staff we would like to thank you for your support and patience during this time. We will work on our safety policies throughout the summer and hope to be able to open again in September 2020 depending on guidelines, policies and school practices. All the staff miss having your children with us, so It was hard to decide to extend the time before we are back together again.
