Those museums that belong to the Museums Association of Saskatchewan are divided into 12 separate networks that meet each spring and fall. They discuss issues and concerns , and work together on joint projects. The Spiritwood and District Museum belongs to the North West Network. On Saturday October 5, Martin Taylor and Lorraine Lavoie represented the Spiritwood Museum at the Network meeting held at Wilkie ,SK. Many interesting topics were discussed and plenty ...of visiting took place . The Spiritwood & District Museum is always looking for new committee members or volunteers . Helping to keep our past for the future. See more
September 29- October 5, 2019 has been declared SENIOR’S WEEK in Saskatchewan . This special week encourages all of us to come together and recognize the importance of seniors in our lives and community. On Thursday September 26, the Spiritwood Museum was represented by Geraldine Lavoie as she presented Museum in a Suitcase to some of the residents at the Spiritwood & District Health Complex. A variety of vintage items were brought in and through sight, smell, touch ...of the items very interesting conversations and visiting was made , this is a form of Recollection Therapy. From sauerkraut making to rolling cigarettes to the Rawleighs man we’re all discussed. It was enjoyed by all who were present. In the up and coming weeks , take time to do something special for the seniors around you.. they are truly our past, present and future See more

Mantle Radio This radio was battery powered and used vacuum tubes. Vacuum tubes used to be the most common technology to amplify electric signals (such as radio waves) and were often large and had to be heated in order to function. Once transistors and other semiconductor components were invented most devices using vacuum tubes, such as this radio, fell out of fashion as transistors are significantly smaller and more energy efficient, though vacuum tubes still sometimes used in special high power applications. This radio is currently on display in the Spiritwood & District Museum
