How to leg yield without shoving https://dressagetraining.tv/leg-yield-without-shoving/ In an attempt to achieve lateral work, riders can end up resorting to shoving/pushing. This video shows some of the typical mistakes and a better way of thinking about lateral movements.
It's always core, core core, right? well even hands are core too apparently - so when Marion is telling you to push your hands forward, and not hang on the reins, it won't just save your horse's mouth, it will also engage that core, lighen your feet in the stirrups, and GROUND you - pretty cool huh?
Booking for weeks of August 13th and August 20th.
SITTING TROT (Quick tip) To practice your sitting trot: STAND UP! Yes that’s right! Standing up in the stirrups while trotting is one of the first steps to ...real balance. It’s done in all the European military schools (e.g. Spanish School of Riding). Not jumping position leaning over, but STRAIGHT UP. Are you wobbling around up there? When you learn to absorb through your joints - hip, knee and ankle joints, up there standing in trot, then your sitting trot stands a chance of being good too. If you can’t stand with a tiny gap between your pubic bone and the saddle standing fully, your stirrups are too long to help your balance. And, your heels will be up. If the gap is Huge when you stand, your stirrups are too short. Good luck with this exercise!
For those of you still not sure about inside leg into outside rein and not pulling on the inside rein to turn....
Darn, one more reason to keep working on those sit-ups and planks - core, core, and if all else fails...core.
