Its our 4th Birthday! This hutch is what started it all. My sister Wendy (former splinter sister) bought a new home and wanted a farmhouse inspired hutch to go in her dining room. I couldn't afford to buy her one for a housewarming gift, so I built her one instead! (That was before the price of wood was through the roof apparently because I used oak plywood and painted it ) ... The photo is not the best quality, and the hutch isn't up to my current level of quality or skill set, but the hutch still lives in her second home and will last a lifetime.Thats the very best part of doing what I do. We aren't "quick 'n cheap", because this is not a big box store. We don't sling MDF and particle board. We are a tiny business of 1-4 people, depending on the time of year. If you're looking for quick n cheep, I will recommend you go to Ikea or Wayfair. They have great prices and fast shipping. However, if you're looking for something that is made of real solid wood and that you can't find in a box store, thats us. AND we have flexible payment options. Reach out and get started. I mean how good does it look with those perfect leather pulls from our friends @pheesoriginalgoods and the matching hex shelves?! We also ended up using some dark brown @starbondadhesives to fill some voids and knots on the door of this gorgeous entertainment unit and they blend perfectly with the natural knots in the pine. Whats good for the goose isn't always good for the gander. ... What the hell am I talking about? Well, the point was, everyone has their own tastes and preferences and thats totally OK! Thats what makes my job so fun! For example Kati and Rob @thewilddecoelis just found a hutch very similar to this one but they've been wanting it for their new bathroom reno(go follow along!) And plan to keep the antique wood color. The only change I believe is that they're removing the wood design inside the glass doors. Our client wasn't a fan of the shape and color of her hand-me-down hutch so she had us also remove the wood design on the doors... but she didn't stop there! She didn't like the detail at the top so we cut that off for cleaner lines. She's a fan of farmhouse decor so we offered up chippy white as a finish and flat black hardware. Ta da! Long story short, both styles will look beautiful, and if a piece doesn't work for you and your style, don't be afraid to try something new, whether thats with oaint, stripping new hardware or just some styling like Katu and Rob. Color Reveal! Hunter Green, Natural wood, chippy white, and soft brown. ... A lot of you tried to guess the colors on this and although no one got it 100% right, you did give me a lot of inspiration for the piles of scraps accumulating in our shop! When you work on average 12-14 hours a day, trying to do the job of 4 people, its not hard to get frustrated or just burnt out. Hustling when your behind is exhausting mentally and physically. These mosaic orders are such a refreshing and fun way to recycle scraps and allow me to reset and get my creative juices flowing again. If I'm in the shop on the weekends, which let's face it, I am basically living there lately, I'm likely creating one of these pieces of art and going through the process of rejuvenating my passion for what I get to do.
