This is a re-make/update of the 2019 live tensiometer prototype shown in my last video. I’ve addressed half a dozen shortcomings, most notably the ability to select a different spoke type for each side of the wheel. The wheel in the video makes use of this feature. Stats (min/max/avg) are also tabulated independently by side. Early survey returns say people prefer a kit bundled with digital indicators so I have some on the way that I'll qualify before reaching out to beta testers. This video shows a little applet I made using the truing stand platform. It only took a weekend to cook up because the heavy lifting was already done. It lets me steal a cable from either truing stand indic...ator and get a live view of tension (in kgf). If I tap the foot pedal, it records the current reading. The number of samples and min/max/avg are displayed on the screen. A long tap of the foot pedal clears the sample memory. This isn't something I'm planning to release initially but shows some of the possibilities. . . . . It looks like the June shop closure will continue into July. Out of my control. Built this pair of identical wheels for a friend. The bike has a 142x12 rear AND a 142x12 fork. A pretty cool idea for expedition cycling. One great thing about this build is no money changed hands so no taxes were generated. Paying taxes feels bad when your government uses the money for violence against its own citizens. Last wheel of 2019. I’ll be working through the holidays but it will be workshop cleanup, tool service, inventory and accounting. My site will continue accepting orders but none will ship until the first week of January. The popular software utilities on my site will have a little downtime for server upgrades but no changes other than snappier service. 2020 promises more of the same. I’ve been using the Kool-stop tool on the right for about five years.
