Announcement: Were happy to tell all our friends and neighbours that Rinse Rupert Laundry is getting ready to expand our opening hours in the next day or two. We also recently started accepting drop-off laundry as well. BUT, its important that you know that the other measures in place to protect the health and safety of our customers will continue until such time as weve put Covid in our rear view mirror. These include: restricting the number of people permitted in the l...aundromat at any given time; asking that people wait for their wash and dry cycles either outside or in Lee and Anns or one of the other great PR restaurants; and that you not come out to do your laundry or anything else really if youre not feeling well. So, for all you early or late birds, we look forward to seeing you all again soon. Stay well and as my Mom used to say, make good choices.

Good morning Prince Rupert, we hope you are all well and taking care of yourselves and each other. We wanted to let you know that we have a bit of a "Forgotten Laundry" collection building up. We would rather they go back to their real forever home but we can't hold them indefinitely. If you're missing your favourite shirt or comfy jammies, please come and pick them up by MONDAY JULY 7th, they miss you.

Attention Rinse Rupert Community Members! Effective Saturday, March 28th we will move to welcoming Elders only from 0800 - 0930 every morning of every day of the week. This change to our hours will significantly reduce the risk of Covid-19 virus exposure to our Elders. In the spirit of caring for self and others, particularly our most vulnerable community members, please allow this 90 minute period to be a safe time for our Elder population to take care of their laundry busi...ness. Good morning Prince Rupert! Today (Friday March 20) is going to be a short day today but not to worry, we'll be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and back to regular hours tomorrow hopefully. Greg will be on duty today and happy to see your smiling (from a 2 metre distance) faces.

In the interest of caring for yourself and others: Please dont come to do your laundry if you feel sick or suspect youve been in contact with someone who is sick; Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly. Its suggested that you wash your hands with soap for the length of time it takes you to sing Happy Birthday to yourself twice; Reduce or eliminate close contact with other people in the laundromat; and Refrain from handshakes or direct contact with customers unless absolutely necessary.

Ok, here we go. The final results on the vote between Rinse Rupert Laundry and Gitga'at Laundry saw Rinse Rupert getting 53% of the votes and Gitga'at Laundry 47%. The people have spoken. Just so you all know, the FB poll app doesn't allow a user to vote more than once so there is no chance of someone voting 2 or more times, so the result is reliable. The first person to submit Rinse Rupert in the first phase of the naming contest was...Barb Hall Sampson!!! Barb, please cal...l Bethani Reece (Gitga'at Development Corporation) at 250.624.9878 to let her know what restaurant you'd like to use the gift certificate at and Bethani will get that set up. Well, we ended up in a very, very close result. So close that, if we consider counting errors because some people voted multiple times or gave a thumbs up multiple times, we're not sure which of the top 2 names won. So here's the plan, we're going to run a poll to choose between the top 2 finishers. Here are a few simple rules:... 1) Everyone has one vote and one vote only; 2) No new names will be considered; and 3) The winning name will be based on the total number of votes cast by this time on Sunday Oct. 14th. CONTEST!!! Bad (not very) news, good news: Although the BC Government approved our use of the name "Spotless Laundry" it turns out that someone beat us to the name and we now have to create a new one, which is actually an opportunity to have some fun in choosing a new name.... We'd like all of you - our friends, family, and visitors to Rupert, to submit your best new name for Northern BC's only 100% First Nation (Gitga'at) owned Laundromat. We'll post a running list of names until September 15th at which point the winner, voted on by all our Facebook friends, will receive a $100 gift certificate to the Prince Rupert restaurant of their choice. Get out the vote!

So, some people have asked about the renovations. The machines and maybe the paint are the most obvious signs of the renovation, but that's just part of the story.
