Hi I’m Jillayna from @springbaychildcare I’m a litttttle weird but I hold a whole lotta love and passion for Little’s and seeing them THRIVE. I’m a mom of two and a wife to one. I LOVE to cook and find it so relaxing ( under the right circumstances ) I’m a horrible Baker but somehow I’m still extremely relentless in my baking pursuits. ( I fail prob 95% of the time but I keep trying and give my husband much entertainment along the way ) I’m a registered Early Chi...ldhood Educator, I’ve worked in childcare centres in many age groups, led a children’s music and movement class, worked in before-and-after care programs for school-aged children, worked for the York Region District School Board in kindergarten classes, had a couple babies along the way and have been offering childcare at my home for about 1.5 years and am very thankful for the opportunity to be apart of a child’s development on a daily basis. What do we have in common? See more

Colour/Letter Match Activity We busted out the dot stickers this morning. I love how versatile those colourful little stickers are, endless activity potential for Little ones. @busytoddler has a ‘highlight’ bubble dedicated to dot sticker activities and I’ve found it very helpful! Today I set up this activity to accommodate a preschool-aged child and two toddlers. I suggested the preschooler match the letters and the toddlers choose a colour and match them with the corresp...onding coloured circle and/or just practice using their fine motor skills to peel the stickers off themselves( a skill in itself that takes time to learn and grow patience and confidence in*). As always there’s a bit of chaos, multiple opportunities for turn-taking, social and spacial awarenessss, keeping hands to ourselvesss...jealously over colours you know how it goes with anything with any human being aged 1-99. Always such a joy to see how confident each child can feel after seeing all of their hard work through simple play Potential skills enhanced: Turn-taking skills, fine and gross motor skills, confidence and self-regulation, colour recognition and letter recognition. Details: Dot stickers- Amazon ( I can send you the link if you’d like) Activity idea adapted from @busytoddler, check out her highlight bubble ‘dot stickers’ Paper- flooring paper from Home Depot. (I’ve have this roll for 3 years, it was around $15 and comes in a massive roll

DIY SHAPE SORTING PUZZLE ACTIVITY This activity was put together a couple weeks ago and it was such a fun, super easy way to use things we already had on hand to create something NEW to be explored and also enhance those cognitive thinking skills . We used different shaped blocks for this particular DIY SHAPE SORTING PUZZLE ACTIVITY. Next time, I plan on extending this activity by letting the children the choose items for their individualized puzzles. The possibilities rea...lly are endless- some examples: Tupperware lids, mason jar lids, toys, rocks, leaves, sticks, toys, a spoon , popsicle sticks, a small book etc).
