On Monday night the ADA+C stated a strong recommendation against any aerosol generated medical procedures. Sadly their criteria for what constitutes an AGMP includes every endodontic procedure at our disposal. This afternoon the ADA+C sent an update that IF you deem it necessary to perform any treatment that involves an Aerosol Generating Medical Procedure (Aerosols are generated by all handpieces, ultrasonic devices, high volume suction, air water syringe and to a lesser ext...ent, low volume suction), it is now a requirement that you wear enhanced PPE such as; protective clothing, gloves, fitted N-95 masks, protective eyewear or face shield (due to the aerosol being created). Given the gravity of the COVID-19 situation and after repeated counsel from multiple members of the College, we have decided to discontinue services until a definitive option for properly treating patients can be produced. This decision saddens us and was a difficult one and not one that we choose for ourselves, however we will follow the recommendations of the ADA+C. On March 17, 2020 the Alberta Dental Association released a mandate that Dental Offices in Alberta can only see emergent cases. At this time Dr Bogle and Dr Crisanti will continue to triage patients and treat only those patients that present as emergent cases. Our team continues to support your dental team and patients and will continue to treat your emergent cases. We can be reached by phone or by email. Our team continues to uphold the sterilization and PPE requirements set out by the Alberta Dental Association. At Springborough Endodontics we continue to operate with a full staff and will remain open to see emergency patients. Dr. Crisanti retreated this unique lower molar. The tooth had a radix entomolaris which is an additional root. In this case, it was a distal lingual root with a severe apical curvature.
