God put us here to see each other through the struggles that are a part of life. We all have burdens but none of us has so many that there is not something we can do to lend a hand to another with theirs. It's time to take our eyes off ourselves and look around asking - what can I do to make someone's day just a little bit brighter and someone's load just a little bit lighter.
There is not a tear that we shed that God does not notice. While troubles and sorrows may be a part of this life, in God's kingdom He promises that there will be no more sorrow or weeping. All that the enemy of our souls has stolen will be restored and we will be renewed through Christ. Can't wait!
In this ever changing world of ours it is hard to know just how to respond. Quit? Hide away some where? Rant and rave? I suspect that we have done all of the above at sometime or another. Our faith gives us a better option - trust God. Somehow, in some way, probably unknown to us He is going to get us through. God is enough!
Praying for a soon return to a normal or 'new' not normal.
Don't say that you haven't been warned!
The Bible is God's word to us. He speaks from its pages with wisdom and guidance for our lives. His word is sure and can be trusted. But all that it promises to us means nothing unless we read it and follow.
"I can do all things through Christ" - it is a great motivator for all the challenges we face in life. Through Christ anything is possible. The context of the verse is ministry. Whatever it is that we need to do for the kingdom of God, whatever our calling is as His servants, whatever challenges we face in our journey of faith - I can do all things through Christ. He will give you the strength! Now what are you going to do with it?
This Sunday is the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. 1 out 8 Christians around the world live with persecution because of their faith in Christ. Please join us this Sunday as we remember and pray for them - 11 am - on-line or in-person .
In the midst of this world's consuming darkness there is a light shining that can penetrate even deepest despairing soul. Jesus Christ is the Light of the World, brighter than a thousand suns. In HIs glory we find health and healing, direction and purpose, a new hope and peace. As the hymn writer said, "Come to the light 'tis shining for thee".
It is not the way that our world works. It is not the way human nature works. But it is the way God works - love your enemies. Do good to them. Pray for them. If we are ever to change our world we need to take a different tactic. It will begin by changing us.
The beginning of wisdom does not rest with great philosophers, cunning politicians, popular entertainers or well-schooled educators. Wisdom begins with an awe and reverence for our all-knowing God. If we start there we will never be disappointed. Read His Word, pray, lean upon the Holy Spirit - there is wisdom there that this world knows nothing about!
Not second, not third, not after this or that (however wonderful and important those may be) but first. The rule and reign of God in our world and in our lives must always come first if we are to find and follow the will of God for our lives. More than that we must seek HIs righteousness beyond that of popular opinion and what is going on in the world around us but a righteousness that reflects the holiness of God. It's a challenging verse to live by - but worth it!
Jesus did not call us to be fans but followers; to live as He lived, to loved as He loved, to go where He went, to be Christ in our homes places of work, business and worship. To do that will mean that we turn our back on this world's way of living and embrace Christ's way, to put aside our choices and embrace His. Are you up for the challenge?
Worship is vital to our lives. Come and join us this Sunday, Oct. 25 at 11 am, in-person or on-line though Facebook Live.
In the face of overwhelming events in our lives and in this world we have a place where we can feel secure and set our minds at ease. God is our refuge and strength. No matter what we are facing, He will always be enough, in fact, more than enough. Reach out to Him. Cling to His word. Rest upon His promises. He will never leave us nor forsake us.
How we live our lives is more important than the life we profess to have. Words are cheap and easy. Are we willing to back them up with our actions? We can say that we love God but if we refuse to obey His simple and gracious commands then where is the love?
Indigenous frustration, growing poverty, moral bankruptcy in government, ... the issues grow like a mountain of trash at the dump. Is there an answer for all this rot? Is there a word of hope? There is! It is found in these familiar words from 2 Chronicles 7:14 - God has shown us the way but it will take a courageous faith to act: to humble ourselves and pray, turn from our wickedness and seek God. Will you be that one?
Life can be hard sometimes. We need to realize that we were never meant to do this on our own. We were created for fellowship with God. In Him we will find our strength to overcome everything we face, every fear, every obstacle, every enemy. God is enough - really! Just ask Him to come and help!
