How many times in a day do we use the word enough? I’m not sure that I got enough sleep last night. Is there enough milk in the pitcher for my cereal for breakfast? Will there be enough time to finish this project before I go out for groceries? We check the gas gauge to see if we have enough gas in the tank of the car. We wonder if we have purchased enough bananas to last until next week. Do we have enough room to park? A very current question is, When will the...re be enough vaccine for those wanting to get vaccinated against COVID? Take time to notice all the occasions we consider whether there will be enough. We can be extremely grateful that in our world where various things can be in short supply, JESUS IS ENOUGH! This is the central truth of today’s message. We eat and drink and become thirsty again. Jesus declares, I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. (John 6:25-40) Why? JESUS IS ENOUGH! We can hear the love of God in His plan to provide enough in arranging for us eternal life through Jesus His Son. The intention of God is confirmed in these words of Jesus, For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life (John 6:40) You can read this weeks message from John 6:25-40, GOD’S LOVE IN PROVIDING ETERNAL LIFE in the attachment or view the entire service at this YouTube link: https://youtu.be/PbU-96J-x2s Thanking God that JESUS IS ENOUGH and praying that others will discover this truth from our loving Father in heaven as well, Pastor Lola Please Note: With lifting of restrictions, we have considered and are not planning to meet for in person services at Springford Baptist Church, at this time. We want to approach this cautiously and will keep you informed. Please pray for God’s wisdom in all the decisions we make. Also: We are happy to acknowledge birthdays and anniversaries and to pray God’s blessing for those celebrating. Not everyone wishes this to be public knowledge. If you are happy for these details to be known, please send me that information for the people in your household. Thank You!

AS WE BEGIN THE SEASON OF LENT: "The Fast Life" Fast from judging others; Feast on Christ dwelling in them. Fast from fear of illness;... Feast on the healing power of God. Fast from words that pollute; Feast on speech that purifies. Fast from discontent; Feast on gratitude. Fast from anger; Feast on patience. Fast from pessimism; Feast on hope. Fast from negatives; Feast on encouragement. Fast from bitterness; Feast on forgiveness. Fast from self-concern; Feast on compassion. Fast from suspicion; Feast on truth. Fast from gossip; Feast on purposeful silence. Fast from problems that overwhelm; Feast on prayer that sustains. Fast from anxiety; Feast on faith. - Author Unknown See more

There are life lessons to be reminded of when shovelling snow. Like some of you, I had occasion to be clearing snow from our driveway with the latest winter storm. There was a great deal of snow, some 30 cm or more. I was reminded of the importance of a steady approach. When I look at all the snow, it can seem daunting. However, working away, a shovel at a time, it does eventually get cleared. This is such a helpful insight about our faith in God and our approach to praying a...Continue reading

Most of have restored items in our homes. Some of them are pieces of furniture that have been refinished or repaired. In some cases, they may be family treasures that have been passed down and have seen many years of memories. We have, in our home, a walnut table that my great grandfather made and my mother removed the old finish and restained it, revealing a beautiful grain. When we have a meal seated around that table, I am reminded of family through the years that have sa...Continue reading

Have you had a chance to notice how beautiful our autumn colours are at this time of year? With all that is going on in the world around us, we can find the reassuring peace of God’s eternal Presence when we pause to notice the quiet beauty of what He has created. In LEARNING THE WAY OF BLESSING, we need to pause and in the holy stillness, we can discover God. When we have experienced the peace that only God can offer, we can then be ready to be peacemakers. The message for t...oday focuses on Jesus’ instruction, Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called the children of God. (Matthew 5:9) Further insight about being a peacemaker by living God’s way can be gained from today’s Scripture from Psalm 119:65-72. We will consider together that being a peacemaker requires active initiative. Peace with God and peace with each other requires action. Jesus took the initiative to secure peace between us and God. Peacemakers bring that hopeful message and then challenge that people live at peace with each other. Peace will not occur if we just sit back and wait for it to happen. This is why peacemakers are needed. This week’s message recognizes the truth: BLESSED AND A BLESSING ARE THE PEACEMAKERS. You can read the message in the attachment or join with others in watching the service at this YouTube link: https://youtu.be/Lum3FLEg1ug Many of you are already experiencing the blessing and bringing the blessing of being a peacemaker for God. Thank You for serving God in this way! Praying for what God wants to teach each of us about the blessing of being peacemakers and then being called the children of God, Pastor Lola

Following our celebrations of Thanksgiving weekend, I have had some further reflections around gratitude and contentment. One of them comes from a broader understanding of the often quoted Scripture, in everything give thanks (I Thessalonians 5:18). It is not that we give thanks for everything, but rather that in everything or in all circumstances we are to give thanks. There are opportunities for giving thanks to God even in the most difficult of times because we know th...Continue reading

On this Thanksgiving Sunday, we look forward to gathering for the second week to worship our God inside Springford Baptist Church! Isn’t it interesting the things that we sometimes take for granted? Last year at this time, being able to meet for worship in our church was just what we expected to be able to do and we didn’t think anything of it. It wasn’t something we were inclined to thank God for because we didn’t imagine that it could be taken from us. With all the restrict...ions and adjustments caused by this current pandemic, we still have many reasons to thank God on this Thanksgiving Sunday 2020! Gratitude is an essential part of recognizing and experiencing God with us. When we choose to thank God for who He is and what He has done, our faith is expanded. The message today in the sermon series LEARNING THE WAY OF BLESSING is titled: THANKFUL FOR THE BLESSING OF SEEING GOD. Jesus maintains, Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. (Matthew 5:8) We will also explore the Scripture from Psalm 119:57-64 that even describes rising at midnight to give thanks to God! (vs. 62) Whether day or night, when our hearts are made pure by Jesus and our central focus is wholeheartedly on God and giving our gratitude to Him, then we can expect to see God. You can read this week’s Thanksgiving message in the attachment or view the service at this YouTube link: https://youtu.be/0o9s2REk4jo When we choose this way of blessing through gratitude, we will literally never run out of blessings to count! This does not mean that everything is the way we would prefer, yet we discover that with pure hearts, we can give thanks that it is possible to see God! Thanking God for each of you and praying that among the many blessings for which we give thanks to God this Thanksgiving will be the blessing of seeing God, Pastor Lola Attachments area Preview YouTube video THANKFUL FOR THE BLESSING OF SEEING GOD

Mission Circle Ladies: Would you like to fill a purse with items(hats, gloves, shampoo etc) for homeless women on the streets? We did this last year and perhaps it would be one way we can contribute to our community as the weather starts to become cold. We could work with Friendship House in Brantford as we have in the past. Yes, it is almost Thanksgiving weekend. Yes, we are still living in a pandemic and there are other troubling circumstances swirling around. Yes, we have reason to give thanks to our God this Thanksgiving and every day! I am reminded of the Bible account of 10 men who were suffering with the disease of leprosy. Jesus was passing through and they called out to Him for help. Jesus sent them to go show themselves to the priests (who were responsible to verify that someone was cle...Continue reading

We were welcomed back inside the church for our Sunday Service feeling safe with protocols in place yesterday. Lots of volunteers were in place to sanitize before and after the service. Thank you to all of them and others who will do it in the future weeks. It was so good to worship together in the sanctuary even though things are different but God is the same.

Sorry for the delay in posting. There were a slight problem getting it to my email address. Praise God for the 188th Anniversary of Springford Baptist Church! Praise God that we will celebrate our 188th Anniversary together inside our church this morning, Sunday October 4th at 10:30 am. If you plan to join us, please wear a mask and we will be following guidelines to help keep us safe. This will be the first time that we can gather inside our church since March. During this... time, we have still been the church. God has still been challenging us to serve Him each day! A very practical way that we can serve our God is by showing mercy. Our key verse for today’s message is, Blessed are the merciful for they will be shown mercy. (Matthew 5:7) We can thank God that He has consistently demonstrated His mercy to us and then we can choose to show that same kind of mercy to others. Every day, situations arise that require mercy. God can fill our hearts with His endless supply of mercy. On our own we would run out of mercy, but God never does. The message this morning is another in the series LEARNING THE WAY OF BLESSING and comes from Psalm 119:41-48 and Matthew 5:7. You can read the message BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO SHOW MERCY in the attachment or view the service at this YouTube link: https://youtu.be/vbsXOBrQMH4 If you are planning to watch the online service, there will be an opportunity to participate in Communion, a reminder of the most profound expression of mercy ever, when Jesus gave His life for us! We do thank God for this 188th Anniversary Sunday of our church and pray that Christian believers and churches everywhere will make the mercy of God real for those they encounter. This is so needed in our world! Praying that God will continue to bless us as we know His mercy and show His mercy, Pastor Lola Attachments area Preview YouTube video BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO SHOW MERCY

We are ready for our worship service inside for the first time since mid March this Sunday, October 4 at 10:30 am. Thanks to all who have volunteered to help sanitize and disinfect the church both before and after each use. We want everyone to feel safe but welcome too. We will celebrate our 188th Church Anniversary Covid 19 style on Sunday. Things will look a little different inside the building but we know God will be with us every step of the way.
