The water that "springs" from the ground at Springwater and forms the small tributaries and ponds and large cedar wetland eventually make their way to the Minesing Wetland, a 15000 acre internationally significant wetland!

Currently the trails are very icy and the ski track is not pronounced. What we need is more snow!!! We have decided to close the 1km snowshoe trail that started by the trailhead. All the trails at Springwater are mulituse so please snowshoe on the side of any trail as to not impact fresh ski tracks. Also - go snowshoe in the forest if you feel comfortable, that is what shoeshoes were made for! The park has roads, trails, fences, railway tracks and Highway 26 and Wilson Rd to keep you contained and not lost!

The Springwater Trails are open and obviously subject to weather. Please call the park at 705.728.7393 for updates. We only groom them when we get adequate snow. Springwater Trails are multiple use but please don't walk or snowshoe on the actual ski tracks - just stay to the side! Thanks!

Thanks to everyone for attending the Remembrance Day ceremony today - the coldest one in recent memory! We especially thank Beausoleil First Nations Park staff for their preparations and Wayne Cameron and the organizing team for all their work and care. Springwater Provincial Park provides the most peaceful, serene, and natural backdrop for a solemn ceremony of this kind. Next year is the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I and signing of the Armistice on the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour. If you would like be involved, contact park staff or Wayne Cameron. Lest we Forget.

Ontario Parks is honoured to have this WW1 cenotaph in Springwater. Originally erected in honour of "The Vespra Boys" from Vespra Township who sacrificed so much in the First World War. Springwater Park was the location of Remembrance Day ceremonies from the 1920's to the 1950's. In 2012 community volunteer groups came forward in a significant way. Wayne Cameron organized the first Remembrance Day ceremony in the park in over 50 years and continues to do so annually (including this Saturday!) As well at this time, Jack Garner and community volunteers obtained some funding to do some repairs and preventative maintenance on the cenotaph to help preserve it for years to come! Thanks to the local community for supporting Springwater Park and especially the "Vespra Boys" Cenotaph!

The "V" garden "across the pond" from the cenotaph at Springwater has an interesting history! It was originally created by Ontario Department of Lands and Forests staff to commemorate "Victory in Europe" Day - May 8, 1945. It originally was planted with Canada Yew, was replaced with another shrub at some point, and most recently was replanted with cedars by some patriotic and caring local citizens in recent years. Park staff maintain it presently and put out a wreath on May 8th every year to celebrate and remember! Again - please come out to the Remembrance Day ceremony at Springwater this Saturday. All welcome!
