Ever heard of the Eat Well Plate idea? The Eat Well Plate idea shows you the types of foods you need to eat, if you’re to enjoy a healthy balanced meal. So what should your plate look like? Ideally your plate should be divided into quarters. With 1/2 the plate consisting of fruits and veggies, 1/4 of whole grains and 1/4 of healthy protein. Your fruits and vegetables are providing you with minerals and vitamins. Whole grains such as quinoa, rice, or whole grain pasta prov...ide you with fibre. And legumes, lean meats or plant based alternatives provide you with protein. We encourage you to try out more plant based proteins since they have more fibre and less saturated fat. You can apply the Eat Well Plate idea to any meal or snack. It’s all about being creative, and finding ways to incorporate various food groups in your meals. We want to see some of your balanced plate meals, send us pictures of your delicious meal ideas! #balancedplate #healthyeating #Sprout

Swipe right to make a smoothie! Smoothies are an excellent addition to your diet. They can be an excellent way start to your day , or an amazing pick me up after a particularly long one.The best thing about smoothies is that the combinations are nearly limitless and it's up to you to make it your own according to your preferences ! We like to have a few staple ingredients as a base to the smoothie (ex: bananas, mango, pineapple or berries), before adding more ingredients... to the mix. You can add a leafy vegetable and still have a delicious tasting smoothie, and as a bonus, you can have that nice vibrant green color After adding the base, you can use milk, water, coconut water or juice as the liquid of choice. Soy milk or almond milk work equally well and have the same effect on the smoothie. If you like to add a sweet, twist to your smoothies, consider putting dates, honey or maple syrup into the mix. Finally, if you want to feel fuller and satiated, you can add seeds and nut butter as a finishing touch before blending.
