Spruston Road Bible Camp 15.11.2020

Hey everyone, this is a message from Dan, Sarah and Lily Sawatsky! We have been preparing for the possibility of camps being cancelled this year and have come up with an alternate camp experience... We will be hosting a free Spruston camp experience, although perhaps not affiliated with Spruston as we will be putting this on ourselves. It will be taking place on zoom, where anyone can log in and hangout! We will be doing Christian apologetics lessons and have times of sing...ing and just hanging out as well. We will also incorporate some kind of games as well, I have no idea right now what that might look like... But please send me (Dan) any and all thoughts and ideas about how we can make this alternate version of camp a success! We look forward to seeing everyone who would like to join in! We will post more details once we work them out, as to what days and when. But it will be as easy as just clicking the link that we post. We love you all and want you to know that all Spruston stands for, living out the love of God and learning about his Word, never ends! Even though the physical camps are cancelled this year, we can still carry on the relationships and love and learn together! When we eventually give more details, I'll also ask that family's should still consider donating to Spruston as well, to help with ongoing upkeep and ensuring the camps can continue next year as well See more

Stay posted for some exciting news of a new way to do Summer Camp this year with Dan Sawatsky!! I will post about it soon!!

Spruston Road Bible Camp 14.10.2020

I’m writing to you with some unfortunate but necessary news. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have made the very difficult decision to cancel our Spruston Road Bible Camps, and all other summer camp rentals, for 2020. We believe this is the socially responsible thing to do and we do not take this measure lightly. We know how disappointing this news will be for the campers who were looking forward to playing, learning, growing and swimming at the swimming hole at SRBC this s...ummer. In making this decision, we are following the advice of public health agencies (in particular the updates from Dr. Bonnie Henry), and continue to pay close attention to the evolving situation. The advice continues to recommend avoiding large group events. Camp, as we know it, is a large gathering of people with tremendous risk for COVID-19 transmission. We strongly believe that at the core of any successful camp operation is an approach to risk management that is solidly grounded in facts. To summarize, the decision to not operate our summer camps as planned stems from the known challenges and issues of COVID-19, and the planning and preparations for safe summer camps. In terms of refunds, I will be returning 100% of payments received to date. (If you wish to keep your registration fee on file for next year we are happy to do that, but please let me know) A final thought Spruston Road Bible Camp is a registered charity, and we operate and maintain this camp primarily on donations . I’ve been a part of this camp since around 1973 and have never seen anything like this. I sincerely hope that we can stand behind Spruston Road Bible Camp in support of us providing camps in 2021 and beyond. Please consider a donation to support our future. Are our Summer Camps going to happen?? This is a question many of you have been asking. We will make a decision after the Goverment tells us what restrictions will or won’t be lifted on May 12th. Please keep this in your prayers. These are very unprecedented times we are going through and unfortunately we have no control over what happens. We feel sad for those kids that this would be their last year of camp as they are graduating and have had so many things taken from them during these past few months, I wish there was a way to make what feels like a bad dream go away! Keep Praying. And a notice will be uploaded on this page on MAY 13th.
