We are here for you during this unprecedented time. Although we’re not attending patients at this practice, we’re still here for your emergency dental care needs. If you or your family has a dental emergency, please call our main number (902) 703-2162 and we’ll either handle your concerns over the phone or refer you to a dental office convenient to your location. In the event of a serious injury or infection requiring immediate attention visit a hospital or call 9-1-1. You can also visit www.hellodent.com to find immediate urgent care options or to request a future appointment. It's #DentalAssistantsRecognitionWeek! A dental assistant is educated in infection control protocols, providing patient education, assisting the dentist during procedures, performing laboratory tasks and much more. As part of the dental team, they are essential to the oral care of Canadians! Recognize your dental assistant during the first week of March. Today is #PinkShirtDay; the theme this year is Lift each other up, a simple but powerful message encouraging us to look beyond our differences and celebrate the things that make us unique. When we lift each other up, we see beyond the things that separate us and see instead the things that unite us as people; we can see how our differences are beautiful. Share this positive message and learn how you can get involved: https://www.pinkshirtday.ca Schedule an appointment with us: www.halifaxdentaloffice.ca 902-703-2162

#TipTuesday: Fruit juice is loaded with vitamins and antioxidants, but unfortunately most juices are also loaded with sugar. Some juices can have as much sugar per serving as soda. For example, there are only 10 more grams of sugar in orange soda than in orange juice. Fruits are naturally sweet, so look for juice that has no added sugar. You can also reduce the sugar content by diluting juice with some water. Schedule an appointment with us: www.halifaxdentaloffice.ca 902-703-2162

February is #GumDiseaseAwarenessMonth. Bleeding gums can be the first warning sign that you have gum disease. The mild variety is called gingivitis that infects your gums and, if not treated, can travel below your gum line and into your bone. Then it becomes a more severe form of gum disease called periodontitis. Both gingivitis and periodontitis have been shown to raise your risk of diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis, pneumonia, and cancer. Speak to your dentist about prevention and treatment at your next appointment. Schedule an appointment with us: www.halifaxdentaloffice.ca 902-703-2162

Research has shown that there is considerable evidence to support the link between poor oral health and any number of chronic conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease and respiratory disease.
