Hello folks..yes I am still here :) Just been very busy ...with Teddy showing up today its going to be windy and wet. Honestly though we could use the rain. So if you are in the area where the storm is going to hit be safe and keep dry! :) Currently I am working on a plan for a client, 15000 acres, so it is taking up some of my time. On top of my regular job here as well. ... As a side note I built an LiDAR application in ArcGIS and MS Access and it has been installed in 6 of the 7 Private Woodlot Marketing Boards in New Brunswick. This was done through me working at the Board and through work at my business to get it all to work out. The Boards now have the ability to produce maps and reports on woodlots to give woodlot owners more choices and options for their woodlots.

Currently thinking of putting together some free classes/workshops on certain Forest Management/Environmental issues.....something I have done before but it has been awhile. So any suggestions/comments from people on what they might like to see would be appreciated.

Good afternoon folks.....I hope everyone is ok. I know a lot of people in my area are without power right now and dealing with the fallout of the rain and freez...ing rain we have had in the past 24 hrs. For times like this it is a good idea to have emergency kits and supplies. Extra betteries, water, canned food, blankets, candles, propane camping stoves etc. A "Go Bag" can be very hellpful at times like these. These are prepared bags with supplies that can be taken within you if you have to leave, or be used in place if you do not. Power might be out for a few hours or a few days, you can never really know. The people out trying to restore it are doing the best job they can do in such conditions and as frustrating as it can be remember they can only work so fast.

Good morning folks...yes I am still here and still alive :) Things have been quiet till recently so not much to say. However I do have a new project which will keep me busy awhile. I am also now working with more LiDAR data and seeing what can be done with that. I have created a mapping project which works very well for the private woodlot sector. One puts in the pid(s) they wish and it will generate maps and reports of the lots in question giving lidar stats on each stand. These enables the woodlot owner to make decisions he could not make before. Yes the data still would need to be ground checked, but now they would know what potential each stand has.

Good morning everyone...yes still alive and kicking here and yes the business is still running....sorry I have not been on here much but I am going to try to change that. Forest Management Planning is going through some changes these days. With new things to consider, like climate change, we have to take a look at how we used to do things and how we need to change to adapt to the changes that are coming.Some will be easy, others not so much, but it is adapt or our forests that are managed will not be in good shape in the future. Speaking of which I hope to announce soon a new project we maybe starting, just waiting on the final go ahead. Stay tuned!

AWI is very happy to be part of this initiative with DNR that was spearheaded by Nature NB. Although geared towards youth, this is an important message for all!... Baby season is here for our wild neighbors, but that doesnt mean we need to interfere with their natural processes. The more you learn and spread the word, the more respect and awareness will be created, which will protect and safeguard wildlife, as well as, our own well being! Kudos Nature NB! Please share!! Hey folks...yep still alive here! Just finished up planting season with the Board here, so I have been pretty busy. I do work a second job with a marketing board here but I am still running my business and mostly working with the Crown, making maps and the like. So by day I work on Private and by night on Crown....who needs sleep right? LOL

Hi everyone.....just to let you know I am still working away here at the business.....but also have a second job as well. I am working for a Private Woodlot Marketing Board here. I wish I had enough work coming in with my business but these days it is getting harder to do so, hence the second job. I will be posting more on here I promise and letting you know whats up.

So for some people today is a day of rest but I have a large number of maps to make for a client so guess what I will be doing today!

We do timber evaluation of woodlots here in the Maritimes, if interested please email me. Please note that any evaluation is a guesstimate on the amount of volume present, actually volumes can vary, as can prices for wood. Management Plans can also be produced as well.

Hey folks....I am still here...been very busy with the other job and i have had a sinus infection so that sort of kept me down for awhile. Been the usual lately....silviculture maps, submissions to the province for harvesting. On the second day job I have been working on Carbon Budget Plans.....I am learning how these can possibly make money for a woodlot owner and by managing their lots in a sustainable manner they can make money from their lots and have plenty of trees still growing, but it does not limit their harvesting, except maybe in the timing. Its still a work in progress so it will be interesting to see where it goes.

Hey folks...after all that heat we are now getting a lot of rain....we need it but it seems to be one extreme to another. The thing is is this some fluke in the weather pattern or something that is becoming the norm. Unfortunately it seems this will be the norm. So it might be a good idea to start planning for a warmer, and possibly colder, weather in the future.

So keeping busy here and as always looking for new opprotunities for the business here.

They say up to 100 mm of rain this weekend...and some of that could be freezing rain. I think it sounds like a weekend to stay in. I hope you all had good holidays and the new year is a good one for you. For me I am back to work here and there will be changes coming down the road so keep an eye out!

Hi everyone! Yes I am still alive here...back to working at the business pretty much full time again. So far this morning has been a busy one where I have been on the phone for most of the morning. I have been catching up with clients and seeing what has been going on. So you will be hearing more from me again now that I am back in the office more or less full time. Winter is here so best to check your trunks and make sure you are winter ready with first aid kit, blankets, s...hovels etc. Though today seems more like April here then December! Hello everyone....its an overcast day here today but from the breeze I am getting through the window here the temperature seems nice and cool. I am back in my office again, now that I have cleaned it up and got away from table out in the livingroom. I needed space to work with the large maps I got froma client. Now back in the office here I can get settle in and get back to work. Today I have to work on a number of SFI documents for a client. I also have to do a little admin work for the business too....that never seems to end! So I hope you have a good Tuesday folks!

Good morning folks...its a bit of a wet overcast day today here. I am working on a few different projects at the moment. Bascially trying to do one project as another client emails me asking can I have a map for such and such. So the usual here. If you are in a flooded or flooding area please be safe and stay away from fast moving bodies of water.
