Message Details: Name: Mike Apperley Email: [email protected] Subject: First Aid Training Message: Dear Squamish Yacht Club... My Name is Mike Apperley and I have recently started a First Aid Training Company called T and E First Aid. I have been a firefighter for 7 years and a first aid instructor at my department and now I am drawing on this experience to offer courses to the public in Squamish and the Sea to Sky Corridor Obviously, all businesses, institutions and individuals are affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in some way and often this has created financial strain. Because of this, I am offering the Promo Code "COVID%15" for all my courses to redeem a 15% discount. I am offering public courses throughout this month and you can visit my website for a detailed schedule or I also offer private courses to businesses and groups of people. The benefit of a private course is that it keeps individual bubbles intact. Also, all of the students receive a FREE CPR pocket mask with any of my courses I teach a range of First Aid courses including OFA Level 1 Equivalents, Child Care First Aid, Marine First Aid and full range CPR courses. I also offer two non-certification workshops in "Infant CPR and First Aid Basics" and "Opioid Overdose Awareness" Please feel free to visit my website for more information https://www.tefirstaid.com/ Or find us on Facebook and Instagram All the best in these unique times Mike A

I thought I'd share this as we have our own RCM-SAR 4 team on the water here in Squamish that also performs a very important safety component to our area. Most of us know North Shore SAR from all of the rescues they have done in the last years.

We lost our dinghy seat on the way out the other day in heavy chop somewhere before Watts point. If anyone hears of it please let us know. The same model as in the photo and the single-seat looks the same as these.

The Brentwood Bay RCMSAR Station went out to practice our towing skills yesterday and ended up towing in a sailing vessel disabled by a rope around its prop. Ph...otos show a "long tow," crew rigged for COUVID19 and a "side-tow" approaching Butchart Gardens. Photos by Harry Olynyk of Brentwood Bay RCMSAR (Station 31). See more

Good Morning Sailors! Half Day Camps & Private Lesson pricing! First come, first serve. It takes an army of qualified, positive and patient instructors to deli...ver the Sailing School experience and keep our sailors safe on the water! As we do not have the infrastructure to offer a distanced program, we have had to limit our numbers. Please understand our prices do not reflect the standard fantastic, bursting with energie camp you are used to. This year we are compacting all the fun, all the learning and all the safety into groups of 6 or less. View this as an incredible experience for your sailors to get some real one on one time with their coach. We are relying on you to enroll sailors from the same bubble as they will be within close proximity on the dock and in boats. Instructors will wear a mask at all times. All boats will be cleaned in between different group lessons. Sailors will not have access to the clubhouse. They are expected to arrive already changed and ready to go. Limited to no access to washrooms (Please do your best to go before arriving). Prices are as follows: Half Day Camp 9am-12pm, M-F, $250 per sailor, Maximum 6 kids - (Those with only 2 kids in a bubble please e-mail. Possibility to pair you up with distance protocols) Adults (private family lessons Max 4 people): 4 x 2h sessions (scheduled with your bubble) - $300 per sailor We understand this is frustrating as there are no full day camps. Please understand we are doing our best to ensure there is an opportunity for kids to get on the water while following guidelines set by the ministry of health and BC Sailing. Thank you for your support and understanding! I am confident we will be back, bigger and better in the future. ***We are extremely flexible with times and dates. If you are a working parent and we can adjust to help you out, please do not hesitate to e-mail me. [email protected] Due to instructor availability, I will only be scheduling lessons from July 7th - July 24th. First come first serve. Update on schedule to follow.

NOTICE: I had a boater contact me and said there are some nasty logs in the channel including a very nasty deadhead. You will need to use extreme caution entering or exiting the channel. Maybe if anyone is around that could mark this with a buoy?

As SYC sailing school cannot effectively social distance in adherence to BC Sailing, Sailing Canada and Health BC guidelines due to COVID 19 pandemic it should be noted that the sailing school for 2020 will be cancelled. Hope to see you next year.

UPDATE from Transport Canada. The hazard to navigation (steel pile has been cut off at ground level) has been removed and the marking buoy has been returned to its owner. The channel is clear! There is a hazard to navigation where the red marker is. There is a metal pole with jagged edges so be very careful exiting the channel. A boat was holed there May 10th and the hazard has been reported to the Coast Guard and they may be transmitting "securite" now. https://goo.gl/maps/9SVtF7vD1GP8obPGA
