This week we celebrated Hebrew language week in the Main Campus. Students learned about Eliezer BenYehuda, the driving force behind the revival of the Hebrew language in the modern era. Let’s see what some of our students chose as their favourite Hebrew words!
Students in 3B are drawing their own cartoons during Computer Animation class. Today’s theme was to incorporate acts of kindness into their creations!
Lots of smiles behind our masks as we welcomed our students back to SSA today!
To celebrate Winter Week in Pre-K B, students made a banana snowman, snowflake art, and learned about symmetry by painting a pair of mittens.
Avant les vacances d'hiver, les élèves de 5ème et 6ème ont commencé le projet Semer le bonheur : une correspondance avec les aînés du Donald Berman Maimonides Geriatric Centre. Bravo! Leading up to the winter break, our students in Grades 5 and 6 started their writing project called Spreading happiness: corresponding with the residents of the Donald Berman Maimonides Geriatric Centre. Nice work!
Thank you to our parent volunteers from the Home and School Association for the delicious catered lunches enjoyed by our faculty and staff! Merci à nos bénévoles de l'association des parents pour les délicieux dîners, appréciés par notre faculté et notre personnel!
Our Grade 6 students jumped into the school year by being introduced to Canada's system of government. The children read about and discussed past and present Prime Ministers, the Parliament buildings, the Royal Canadian Mint, the history of Canada's establishment as an independent country, and how bills become law. The students then applied their newly found knowledge by writing a diary entry from the point of view of the Prime Minister of Canada. The culminating event for t...his unit of study was one like no other: the first ever SSA Virtual Town Hall with guest speaker, Canadian Member of Parliament, Anthony Housefather! Mr. Housefather engaged our students with his firsthand knowledge of the inner workings of our government. He fielded well thought out, pertinent questions from our inquisitive students. Mr Housefather’s virtual visit proved to be informative, interesting and brought learning to life! See more
On Remembrance Day, the students and staff of SSA honour those who have served our nation throughout history, in times of war, conflict, and peace. C'est une occasion de se souvenir de tous ceux qui ont défendu le Canada. #Lestweforget
In Pre-K A, we have been preparing for Remembrance Day by learning about peace. We created a peace table where we encouraged our students to go if they needed to work out disagreements. We also explored peace through our senses, by thinking about what peace feels like and learning a song. Finally, we talked about the significance of poppies and Remembrance Day, and the children made beautiful poppy paintings! #LestWeForget
