I have seen that some of you are already decorating for Christmas. I want to encourage you to think about adding an Advent Wreath. This is very simple to make and hopefully will a focal point for devotions and reflections during the four weeks before Christmas. The instructions are in the comments section.

On this day of Remembrance, Lord, I thank you for all those military people Who served yesterday For those who are serving today And for those who will serve tomorrow... I pray for each one of them I pray for those who volunteered Seeking adventure And got more than they had bargained for But continued to serve I pray for those who were conscripted And did not want to go But went anyhow And found some way To serve even though they did not want to I pray for those who made it a career Who decided that this was The life for them And who served in wartime As well as peacetime I pray for those who came back from a war Damaged in some way Some with visible injuries And some with the other kind The ones we cannot see I pray for the families Of those who served For they, too, made sacrifices And are sometimes forgotten In the flurry of remembering the military I pray for the men and women Of all races Who answered the call May we always remember them May we always be thankful for them Amen Katherine Burgess

Evening worship is always special. Praising God in the evening when the day is done is somehow different from morning worship. John and I are looking forward to worshipping with you this evening as we share communion with you at 7:30pm on this site. This is what my home set would look like. A prayer that expresses how I am feeling this Saturday. Written by Rev. Peter Bush. A PRAYER We are afraid, tired and grieving God of mercy, we are afraid.... We hear the rising COVID case numbers, and we are afraid. We hear that some hospitals are reaching capacity, and we are anxious. We see people acting in ways that we think are wrong, and we are angry. God of mercy, we are tired. In this time, we constantly need to adjust, nothing is stable, we are tired of living on edge. We hear of the new restrictions, we hear there may be more restrictions to come, and we want to give up. We have been limited from doing the things we used to do, activities that brought us joy, and we are frustrated. God of mercy, we are grieving. We have given up our Thanksgiving plans, and we are disappointed. We have given up connecting with grandchildren because they have returned to school, with adult children who have their own bubbles that do not include us, with parents who are in places that we can not access, and we are feeling cut off. We have little interaction with people about the ordinary things of life, in fact we have little human interaction with people, and we feel alone. To you, O Lord, we cry out, for who but You do we have in heaven who hears our cries and answers. In you, O Lord, we trust, for who but You can we hold on to who will also faithfully hold on to us. In you, O Lord, we find hope, for who but You can bring us through this present time to the joy that awaits. These things we pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our faithful saviour, guide and friend. Amen.

Just to let you know there will be no new hymn music this evening. Peter is away. However, Peter will be back next next week with some Thanksgiving and communion music. So for this evening you will have to find your favorite hymn video.
