At 11 am on November 11th, 1918, the guns of the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month attained a special significance in the post-war years. The allied nations chose this day and time for the commemoration of their war dead. Occupational therapists have a special relationship with veterans as the nucleus of our discipline only began to take form with World War I when emergency courses for... Ward Aides (also known as "Occupation" Aides) were organized in Toronto and Montreal by the Department of Soldiers' Civil Re-establishment"(Friedland, Robinson & Cardwell, 2001). At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, we remember.
