Today's Worship Service - Sunday November 22, 2020 https://youtu.be/ZAIm101sdco

St Andrews Presbyterian Church Scarborough 27.10.2020

Join us virtually for worship this Sunday, November 22nd at any time after 8 am. We will continue in our Exodus series...today's story can be found in Exodus 14: 1-14...and is entitled "Between a rock and a wet place!" When God led the Israelites on a different way than they expected, they found themselves sandwiched between the sea on one side and an enemy watchtower on the other. Unhappy with their circumstances, they turned on Moses and began complaining. How do we respond to adverse or unexpected circumstances? Do we ask ourselves, where is God in all this? Come and worship with us and hear the rest of the story...and God's promise to his people. All are welcome! Please check us out!

St Andrews Presbyterian Church Scarborough 15.03.2020

On Sunday, August 2nd, we will gather to worship God virtually, continuing in our sermon series about forgiveness...this week the sermon title is "Josephs journey to forgiveness." The service will be posted at 8 AM on Sunday morning and can be viewed at your convenience after that time. Joseph set an example of how to forgive those who have hurt you, desp...ite difficult circumstances. You can find the story of Joseph in Genesis Chapters 37-50 if youd like to refresh your memory before Sunday. The scripture readings on Sunday are from Genesis 45: 1-15 and Genesis 50: 15-21. Well sing Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone) and And Can it Be! Wed like to give a shout out to all the camp staff who did such an amazing job running our day camp this summer! Were also thankful for the great weather that they enjoyed in July!

The people of St. Andrews are delighted to be able to donate over 1200 tubes of hand cream to the workers of three long term care homes within our community. This gift is a tangible expression of our thanks to all those people who have worked so hard in care homes throughout this COVID-19 pandemic. Wed also like to thank Doug Moser from Canadian Tire for his assistance in sourcing the hand cream and to the young people for their assistance.

Like leaves carried by a swirling wind the sounds of joy and laughter are heard from the front, side and manse lawns. There are colourful clusters of children and leaders from our three day camp cohorts at St. Andrews. This has been a unique year. The requirements due to COVID include an online survey of each child filled out daily, temperature checks, staff and volunteers wearing masks all day long, and many other small challenges. Breathe on us breath of God as we welcome your Holy Spirit into our hearts. Make us aware that talking about you is not the same as talking to you. Help us to do both. Help us to overcome the obstacles that prevent us from enjoying a relationship with you.... Help us to trust you with the problems we face and the decisions we make. When we are depressed and anxious help us to feel your love, peace, and presence. When we lose our sense of compassion, remind us of your compassion for us. Make us humble enough to know that without you we are incomplete. Remind us to pray for one another that you would replace our grief with peace, our sickness with healing, our poverty with prosperity, and our self centeredness with thoughts of others. Grant us the grace to live this day in your strength. Amen.

A Prayer Dear God Help us to overcome the obstacles that prevent us from enjoying a closer relationship with you.... Grant us the patience of Job, the wisdom of Solomon and the faith of Mary. Help us to remember that the cross is the crux of our Christianity. When we are unsure, help us to take the action we feel is right for the good of all and rely on Spirit to make any necessary adjustments along the way. Grant us the courage and boldness to speak the truth of your word to our families and friends and may your Holy Spirit open their hearts and draw them to you. Thank You, Lord.

Duncans sermon last Sunday was based on the questions Jesus asked. Here are a couple more that He asked his disciples as they were walking. How would we answer this question? 27 Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked them, Who do people say I am? 28 They replied, Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets.... 29 But what about you? he asked. Who do you say I am? Mark 8:27-29 NIV
