St. John's Animal Save 15.11.2020

On June 18th, 2020, Bill 156, a malicious ag-gag bill designed specifically to attack activists and those bearing witness, was passed. In addition to attempts to prevent activists from bearing witness and financially/legally harm those who do, it also limits the legal liability of slaughterhouse workers and truck drivers who physically harm activists contravening the act. The very next day, that exact thing happened. On June 19th, 2020, Regan Russell, a dedicated animal righ...ts activist for decades, was at a Toronto Pig Save vigil outside Fearman's slaughterhouse, and was violently struck and killed by the driver of a transport truck carrying innocent pigs also doomed to be killed that same day. She bore witness and led vigils regularly at Fearman's for years, and was well known to the workers there. The driver faces only a civil charge of careless driving causing death - no criminal charges were filed at all. We owe it to Regan and the animals to stand in solidarity with her family, the Animal Save community, and the innocent non-animal victims of animal agriculture, who suffer brutal, needless, undeserved deaths daily, to bring these events to light, fight for justice for Regan and for criminal charges against her killers, and repeal this terrible Bill. We must not allow ourselves to be intimidated or dominated. We need to continue to expose the truth to our friends, family, and anyone else we can, to motivate them to take action. We need to bear witness now more than ever, to be there for the animals, share their stories and make them visible like we have for Regan. We need to be active, political, and stand together, be prepared, and protect each other and the animals. We need to be informed and educated about the law, about psychology, about sociology, and about safety. Today, "There Was a Killing", a documentary exposing the circumstances of Regan Russell's death, was premiered online, and is available on youtube for free. Information about the documentary, the documentary itself, and the steps you can take next to fight back can be found at the following links: https://www.facebook.com/events/678555242798687/ https://thesavemovement.org/there-was-a-killing/ https://thesavemovement.org/take-action-to-help-regan-russ/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGESsgmOjr0&feature=youtu.be #JusticeForReganRussell #RepealBill156 #GoVegan4Regan #SavePigs4Regan

Please do not turn away..do something. Animals are being brutalized for a mere taste preference. If you still eat them, just stop. It's easy and a joy to eat a plant-based diet. #BeKind #BeVegan

If you can't bear to see their suffering, you shouldn't support it. #goveganfortheanimals #bekind

"She died like this. There was nothing humane about it. Nothing. She was grabbed and thrown in to this transport crate on Tuesday night. She was literally squashed to death from overcrowding in that crate. After a year and a half living on an egg farm (a farm that produces, cage, barn and free range eggs), this is how it ended for her. There's nothing humane about eggs. (I know this image is confronting and upsetting and I do apologise, but I do need to show it)
