15 live edge cutting boards finished! I love birch!

Working on 15 live edge cutting boards. This was a massive birch tree I cut in Edmonton 3 years ago.

Another podium finished! Made of red oak and I used walnut for the wedged tenons on top.

The hardest part about this table is allowing for expansion and contraction of the table top. Wood will always expand and contract, and if you do not allow it to do so, it will warp, buckle, crack and youll have all sorts of problems. To allow for seasonal movement, I used figure 8 tabs to attach the apron to the table top. These can swivel and let the top expand and contract along the apron. Its all about the little details!

Cant wait to put the first cost of finish on this table! Its been a long project but one of my favorites.
