The Covid-19 pandemic has made this a very difficult time for Canadians living in long-term care facilities, including many older Veterans. Visits have often been restricted in the effort to keep residents safe, but a sense of isolation can take a steep toll. One way we can try to brighten the days of these real-life heroes is to have students send them handmade cards offering their best wishes for the holidays and personal thanks for all that Veterans have done for our country. Thank you Grade 4/5 students of Mrs. Rowe's class at St. Mary, for spreading your Christmas cheer to our Veterans.

What does peace feel like? This was the question posed to students of Jenn Howe's grade 2/3 class by student teacher Taryn Vuorensyrja. As we honour Remembrance Day, check out this response from Teirney, reminding us why peace is so important!

Kathy Laforge has been an extremely dedicated employee of St. Mary School in Massey for most of her 25 years of service with the Huron Superior Catholic District School Board, and we are certainly grateful for her ongoing work with our staff and students alike. During her time here she has always put the students she serves first, contributing to numerous ISETs and meetings with passionate care and concern, assisting with sports teams and extra-curricular events, and supporti...ng yearly public speaking competitions. However, she has also been quite dedicated in her support for the care and well-being of the entire school community as well, managing Holy Childhood mission activities... ensuring that students have a global perspective, and volunteering as the Health and Safety representative for St. Mary for a great number of years. We are very proud to claim Kathy Laforge as one of our own! See more
