Gospel of the Day (St John 19:25-27) Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mothers sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When J...esus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, "Woman, behold, your son." Then he said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother." And from that hour the disciple took her into his home. https://www.vaticannews.va//word-of-the-day/2020/09/15.html See more

Gospel of the Day (St Luke 8:1-3) Jesus journeyed from one town and village to another, preaching and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God. Accompany...ing him were the Twelve and some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, Joanna, the wife of Herod's steward Chuza, Susanna, and many others who provided for them out of their resources. https://www.vaticannews.va//word-of-the-day/2020/09/18.html See more

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, In this Sundays first reading from Sirach we are presented with words that can penetrate the heart and lead us to reflect on the attitudes we hold in life - it states: Wrath and anger are hateful things, yet the sinner hugs them tight. Isnt it so true that we can hold tightly to anger and wrath instead of letting these things go. We can feel comfort in our anger and wrath, because it gives us a reason to wallow in our perceptive misery.... But the next line in the passage should be even more starting for us when it says: The vengeful will suffer the LORDs vengeance, for he remembers their sins in detail. Although it is startle in its message, yet this should not surprise us, because every time we say the "Our Father" we basically utter the same sentiment - "And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us." By praying the "Our Father" we are always condemning ourselves if we do not remove wrath and anger towards others who do us harm. So what is the solution to all of this? Well the next line in our passage gives us the answer: Forgive your neighbors injustice; then when you pray, your own sins will be forgiven. Let us heed to these final words and show forgiveness, kindness and love to those around us. Blessings, Fr. Liborio See more

Gospel of the Day (Luke 6,27-38) Jesus said to his disciples : "To you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse y...ou, pray for those who mistreat you. To the person who strikes you on one cheek, offer the other one as well, and from the person who takes your cloak, do not withhold even your tunic. Give to everyone who asks of you, and from the one who takes what is yours do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you. For if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do the same. If you lend money to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit (is) that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, and get back the same amount. But rather, love your enemies and do good to them, and lend expecting nothing back; then your reward will be great and you will be children of the Most High, for he himself is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked. Be merciful, just as (also) your Father is merciful. Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you." https://www.vaticannews.va//word-of-the-day/2020/09/10.html See more

Gospel of the Day (Luke 6,6-11) On a certain sabbath Jesus went into the synagogue and taught, and there was a man there whose right hand was withered. The scri...bes and the Pharisees watched him closely to see if he would cure on the sabbath so that they might discover a reason to accuse him. But he realized their intentions and said to the man with the withered hand, "Come up and stand before us." And he rose and stood there. Then Jesus said to them, "I ask you, is it lawful to do good on the sabbath rather than to do evil, to save life rather than to destroy it?" Looking around at them all, he then said to him, "Stretch out your hand." He did so and his hand was restored. But they became enraged and discussed together what they might do to Jesus. https://www.vaticannews.va//word-of-the-day/2020/09/07.html See more

Gospel of the Day (Luke 6,20-26) Raising his eyes toward his disciples Jesus said: Blessed are you who are poor, for the kingdom of God is yours. Blessed are y...ou who are now hungry, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who are now weeping, for you will laugh. Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude and insult you, and denounce your name as evil on account of the Son of Man. Rejoice and leap for joy on that day! Behold, your reward will be great in heaven. For their ancestors treated the prophets in the same way. But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation. But woe to you who are filled now, for you will be hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will grieve and weep. Woe to you when all speak well of you, for their ancestors treated the false prophets in this way. https://www.vaticannews.va//word-of-the-day/2020/09/09.html See more

Gospel of the Day (Matthew 1,1-16.18-23) The Book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Perez became the father of Hezron, Hezron the father of Ram, Ram the father of Amminadab. Amminadab became the father of Nahshon, Nahshon the father of Salmon, Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab. Boaz became the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth. Obed became the father of Jesse, Jesse the father of David the king. David became the father of Solomon, whose mother had been the wife of Uriah. Solomon became the father of Rehoboam, Rehoboam the father of Abijah, Abijah the father of Asaph. Asaph became the father of Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat the father of Joram, Joram the father of Uzziah. Uzziah became the father of Jotham, Jotham the father of Ahaz, Ahaz the father of Hezekiah. Hezekiah became the father of Manasseh, Manasseh the father of Amos, Amos the father of Josiah. Josiah became the father of Jechoniah and his brothers at the time of the Babylonian exile. After the Babylonian exile, Jechoniah became the father of Shealtiel, Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel, Zerubbabel the father of Abiud. Abiud became the father of Eliakim, Eliakim the father of Azor, Azor the father of Zadok. Zadok became the father of Achim, Achim the father of Eliud, Eliud the father of Eleazar. Eleazar became the father of Matthan, Matthan the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary. Of her was born Jesus who is called the Messiah. Now this is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about. When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found with child through the holy Spirit. Joseph her husband, since he was a righteous man, yet unwilling to expose her to shame, decided to divorce her quietly. Such was his intention when, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her. She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel, which means "God is with us." https://www.vaticannews.va//word-of-the-day/2020/09/08.html See more
