HOLODOMOR This is HOLODOMOR week, which culminates on Saturday when Ukrainians from all over the world unite in sorrow to commemorate the victims of the Grea...t Famine of 1932 1933. HOLODOMOR [Голодомор] is a Ukrainian word, which means killing by starvation. It is the name given to the Ukrainian genocide famine of 1932 33. Historians of this period and region estimate that more than 7 million Ukrainians died from starvation in Soviet Ukraine from 1932 to 1933 and 3 million in neighbouring territories of the former Soviet Union. This excludes the deaths of the unborn, and political repressions of Ukrainians, including executions and the plight of the incarcerated. During the height of the Great Famine in June of 1933, 18000 people died per day one-third were children. These were not just the darkest years for the Ukrainian nation, but for humanity and unrivalled in peacetime Europe. These were man-made and most heinous acts of savage cruelty against the Ukrainian nation, perpetrated by the Stalin regime. In many parts of the civilised world, including the USA and Canada, Holodomor is recognised as a campaign of genocide against the Ukrainian nation and human tragedy. I will light my candle on Saturday and place it in the window of my home in London as I have in previous yearsand wonder why no one intervened or came to help as this unimaginable tragedy unfolded in the largest country in Europe. Дивне танство смерт, бо коли приходить вона, то водночас приносить сум та гркоту вд розлуки, заспоконня вд скорбот та трудв вку цього. З сумом дзн...ався про упоконня Предстоятеля Сербсько Православно Церкви Патрарха ринея. Нин вн зняв з себе шкрян ризи (Бут. 3: 21), але прикрасив себе одягом, який виткав життям свом перейшов вд життя тимчасового у життя вчне, де нема н хвороби, н печал, н зтхання. Вд себе особисто та вд повноти Православно Церкви Украни висловлюю спвчуття рархам Сербсько Православно Церкви, осиротлй паств, сербському народу. Нехай слова пдтримки втхи, написан апостолом Павлом, будуть особливо в ц дн у ваших серцях: Не хочу ж, браття, лишати вас у незнанн про померлих, щоб ви не сумували, як нш, що не мають над. Бо коли ми врумо, що сус помер воскрес, то й померлих в сус Бог приведе з Ним (1 Сол. 4: 13). Нехай Господь упокоть душу новопреставленого Патрарха ринея у Свох оселях, промислом Свом надихне Сербську Церкву в обранн достойного наступника престолу святого Сави, до всх нас буде милостивий.
