A thought from Pastor Carey Jo Johnston... Jesus our Healing Light Even though health professionals tell us that we need to be careful of getting too much ultraviolet rays from the sun, they also tell us that sunlight in moderation has many health benefits. Sunlight can positively affect mental health, helping to overcome depression with release of Seratonin. Sunlight can help heal some skin conditions. The vitamin D we get from sunlight is import...ant for overall health; protects against inflammation, lowers high blood pressure, helps muscles, improves brain function and may even help protect against some cancers. Sunlight is used in some parts of the world to help purify water by putting water in a clear vessel and then putting in direct sunlight. After a few hours the germs are killed. During the Spanish Flu Epidemic of 1918, it was discovered that when patients were placed in tent hospitals where they could get sunshine and fresh air that their rate of recovery was significantly improved. While sunlight can help us during this time of Coronavirus for better mental and overall physical health, we have an even better light. Jesus says, I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. John 8:12 (NIV) During this time of the Coronavirus, we need Jesus more than ever. We need his healing power. The light of Christ has already destroyed the power of sin and death through his death and resurrection. Jesus brings us into right relationship with God the Father when we say Yes to his gift of salvation. Pray with me that Jesus, the light of the world, would bring forth his healing into our hearts, souls, minds, and bodies during these days. That the light of Christ would kill the Coronavirus. The song Shine Jesus Shine really is such a prayer, I invite you to pray this as you listen and sing along. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAFcwns4uHc See more
